Jiingthing,

>>That's easy. Because most of the tunnels don't go into Israel.

..interesting. Guardian UK quotes Netanyahu as disagreeing with you.

"Palestinians march in a funeral procession on Saturday for three children from one family killed in an Israeli attack on Friday, as the Palestinian death toll tops 300. With intense fighting forcing tens of thousands of Palestinians to flee their homes, Israeli prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu has warned Israel is ready for a significant expansion of ground operations, ordered to destroy Hamas tunnels dug under the border with Israel"

>>Interestingly Israel probably doesn't want to TOTALLY break Hamas.

..of course they don't. They are a convenient bogeyman to distract the world against israel's illegal blockade of essential supplies to 1.8 million people in Gaza

No it doesn't. It says nothing about most of the tunnels, which go into Gaza,so that  Hamas can smuggle weapons and explosives. Netanyahu is referring to about 13 that don't go into Gaza, which Palestinian terrorists are trying to use to get into Israel and murder civilians. .

"Bogeymen" who have targeted, killed and wounded numerous civilians on purpose over and over again. However, the maritime blockade around Gaza to keep rockets and other weapons out, is not only legal, but totally justified.

Here is the widely believed fallacy: the Israeli blockade of Gaza led to the firing of Hamas rockets from Gaza. And here is the little known truth: it was the firing of Hamas rockets from Gaza that led to the Israeli blockade of Gaza. http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/alanjohnson/100280272/its-time-to-bust-the-israeli-blockade-led-to-hamas-rockets-myth/

If Israel truly wants to prevent hostile materials arriving in Gaza why not strictly inspect all truckloads of food, and medical supplies transiting via its Israeli/Gaza crossings and randomly bunker bomb the shit out of a kilometre wide stretch of the Egypt Gaza border.

Sorted.

1.200 Gaza tunnels have been destroyed in the last two years, so claiming that Netanyahu said that "most of the tunnels go into Israel" is just plain nonsense. You keep repeating this and offering no evidence. Where is the quote?

There is always the danger that if Netanyahu widens the ground invasion, Hamas may do so too.

Yep, the tragedy is that we have two opposing groups both led by idiots. One group is all too willing to sacrifice civilians for stratgeic political gain and the other side is all too willing to accept civilian collateral damage for military gain. How anyone can be surprised at the civilian death toll in Gaza in beyond me. How anyone can place more blame upon one side rather than upon the other is also beyond my ability to parse the overall situation.

Well, uber-liberal Bill Maher and the staunch conservative senior editor from conservative website The Daily Caller had no problem agreeing on Maher's TV show and that does not happen very often.

“I feel terrible for a Palestinian child who dies,” Maher said, “but if it’s your father, your brother, your uncle who’s firing those rockets into Israel, who’s fault is it really? Do you really expect the Israelis not to retaliate?”  The audience cheered Maher’s suggestion.

Here the opinion of former US president Jimmy Carter:

People might be surprised to learn that Carter's position is often reflected in the editorial content of Haaretz,  a long established Israeli newspaper. Yes there are also ultra-nationalistic hardliners in the Israeli Parliament as noted in another post above, but givng such politcal outliers credence is tantamount, at least here in the USA, of claiming that Sara Palin represents US policy.

...the man who pulled the trigger who killed the child. Simple. Call an unconditional ceasefire.

Deaths in Gaza so far:

333 Palestinians including 77 children, 24 women,18 senior citizens, and that more than 2,385 people injured.

The world will no longer just stand by and bear witness to the murderous aggression of Israel.  People are taking to the streets and demanding justice.  These protests will spread quickly.

London protests call for end to Israeli military action in Gaza

Thousands of protesters gathered in London on Saturday to call for an end to Israeli military action in Gaza and "justice and freedom" for Palestine. Up to 15,000 people are expected to take part in the march, following a route from Downing Street to the Israeli embassy in Kensington.

Sarah Colborne, director of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign, said: "London has already shown its outrage at Israel's attacks on the mostly refugee population of Gaza, with people turning out in their thousands last week … Today's national demonstration will give people from across the country the chance to say enough is enough, Israel's siege of Gaza and its occupation of Palestinian land has to end now."

Labour MP Diane Abbott was among the speakers to address protesters as they gathered in Whitehall. "I am here to show solidarity with the people in Gaza," she said. "We call for an end to the occupation and justice for Palestinians."

Neo-Nazis take centre stage at London anti-Israel protests

Prominent Holocaust deniers took centre stage during recent anti-Israel demonstrations in London, where participants included such prominent neo-Nazis as James Thring and Lady Michèle Renouf, as well as members of the far-Right Neturei Karta sect. The protest was organised by a variety of far-Left and extreme Islamist organisations, including War on Want, Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Stop the War Coalition, Islamic Forum of Europe, British Muslim Initiative, Palestinian Forum in Britain and Friends of Al Aqsa

The Prime Minister of Turkey? Well, that's a shocker coming from a big supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and an honorary citizen of Iran. xohmy.png.pagespeed.ic.shABmucp9T.png

So its one thing to justify using aggression on people for firing rockets but it is something entirely different to go after your own fellow citizens who merely expressed sympathy at all the civilian deaths in Palestine?ermm.gif

On Saturday night, July 12, a few hundred demonstrators gathered in Habima Square in Tel Aviv to protest the ongoing massacre in Gaza, organized by the Coalition of Women for Peace.

While demonstrators chanted and held signs in the square, a group of approximately 60 counter-protesters, some wearing shirts with fascist logos prominently displayed, arrived and began menacing the crowd.

There are lots of anti-Semitic hate groups out there fueling these things.

According to the Rundschau, student organization Left-SDS, Islamists and some members of the Neo-Nazi group National Socialists Rhein-Main attended the anti-Israel protest. Flags from Turkey, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Hamas were on display at the protest.

I've got a MUST READ here for anyone who really wants to understand what makes Hamas tick and why Israel has no choice at all but to go after Hamas if they want to survive:

http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2014/07/understanding-what-hamas-wants/374656/

1. We can thank former President Bill Clinton for perfect clarity in his comments about the chaos and horror of Gaza. In an interview on Indian television, Clinton—who told us in his memoir that Palestinian self-destructiveness (in the form of Yasir Arafat’s various delusions and prevarications) undid his effort to bring about a two-state solution to the Middle East conflict—blames the Muslim Brotherhood’s Gaza affiliate, Hamas, for adopting a policy of deliberate self-murder in order to present Israel with a set of impossible dilemmas. “Hamas was perfectly well aware of what would happen if they started raining rockets in Israel,” Clinton said. “They fired a thousand of them. And they have a strategy designed to force Israel to kill their own civilians so that the rest of the world will condemn them.”

2. We can thank Hamas for bringing its own form of clarity to this situation. This is the manner in which Hamas works: It builds reinforced bunkers for its leaders (under hospitals and other must-avoid targets) but purposefully neglects to build bomb shelters for the civilians in its putative care. From their bunkers, the leaders order rocket teams to target Israeli civilians. Hamas, which was responsible for the deaths of several hundred Israeli civilians during the second Palestinian uprising alone, has lately been less effective at killing Israelis, but nevertheless, the rockets keep launching. When you repeatedly fire rockets at civilian targets in a neighboring country, that country usually responds militarily. Civilians get killed during the Israeli response in part because Hamas rocket teams operate from sites that are among Gaza's most densely populated, and in part because Hamas stores its weapons in schools and mosques.

The goal of Hamas—the actual, overarching goal—is to terrorize the Jews of Israel, through mass murder, into abandoning their country. If generations of Palestinians have to be sacrificed to that goal, well, Hamas believes such sacrifices are theologically justified.

Who else would be marching against Israel following a banner that says "Victory?" This isn't an anti-war group or a peace group. Look at what they are carrying.
