to get a tourist visa from the Thai Embassy in Saigon?

My girl friend has an acceptance letter from a Thai university(she's filipina) and only needs a tourist visa to give the university so they can prepare forms for a longer stay visa. We plan to visit Vietnam in August, so we need to be in Saigon long enough to get the visa. I've written the Embassy but have heard nothing yet. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

What she really needs to get is a non immigrant ED visa. It is next afternoon service at the consulate (it is not the embassy) in Saigon.

ED visa requirement are here: http://www.thaiembassy.org/hochiminh/en/services/2911/35219-Non-Immigrant-Visa-%22ED%22.html

Joe - Can one get a single entry tourist visa from here in preperation for a 12 month extension based on marriage? If so, is it the usual drill, in before 11am pick up 2pm the next day?

If you are already married. You can get a single entry non-o. If not you could get a tourist visa.

It would be the same for any visa. Apply the morning of one day and pickup your passport the next afternoon.

Next day. But I know there have been issues in the past for Filipinos, wherein they needed to go back the the Philippines to obtain the visa. That might, of course, have been for a short period of time and/or for particular visa classes.

Actually, in HCMC, at least, you can apply in the afternoon and collect next day.
