An English translation of the Alien Working Act is here:

No exemption for community work is mentioned.

.

You need a work permit for ANY KIND OF WORK. Volunteer or not.

You have almost 6,000 posts and don't know this?

So if one is working with the police and assigned a police uniform and ID card technically is that illegal

As a lawyer one said to me that on the path to getting Thai citizenship some points can be earned from working in the community

I know there has been many posts about this but it is still confusing to me as why he police would ask for volenteers when they know these volunteers are illegal

Same with forang rescue workers and I have even seen photos of forangs working for immigration police.

So is it technically illegal but up to the police as to if it can be tolerated

If one is arrested then am I right in saying that the employer is also responsible be it the police

Rescue or any other government aligned helpers

So what about the tsunami all the people helping out there ?

I would need a proper lawyers answer because I am very confused
