Look forward to seeing the new photos. thumbsup.gif

Will the adapters give any loss of light?

I went with the Novoflex adapters for M42 and PK mount. These are the finest adapters available to mankind and were reassuringly expensive . . . from Germany you know, what, what!

If that doesn't work then an old black rubber band will sort it.

I'm scared. I've only ever used Pentax. The Novoflex PK just arrived along with batteries, must say it's quality so far. The big show should be here tomorrow.

I thought you bought a Nikon D8something? Can't keep up.

Nope. Twas' on the cards but I just can't, so this is cheap option. No need for new lenses and internet reconnaissance has identified Pentax and M42 full frame glass works very well on this little Sony thing. I have many to choose from.

We'll see . . . tomorrow actually.

It's here.

Shutter slap not as bad as I thought it would be. But very loud.

Ergonomics not too bad, but not great although feather light.

Build quality not bad but no where close to the standard of Pentax.

EVF good.

Menu looks like a nightmare.

Definitely not bad for adapted lenses.

Don't worry, farang always think too mut.

You'll get used to it, the camera that is.

There would be a learning curve no matter what brand or system you'd have chosen, it's all good.

P.S.  Check out sony a7r to**ent in google, stuff shows up but I can't access them to check out if they are worthy, my ISP blocks them sites unless they're over SSL.

Oddly, I set it up in 30 mins and started shooting. It's very easy is this camera. Customization is the nuts!

I can't get TAv mode working though.

Shutter is very load. Very LOUD!!!

Ordered one AF lens to go on it, the Sony Zeiss 55/1.8. The Pentax glass is working very well as is the M42 mount.

Ordered a book too.

If the shutter is loud that only means 1 thing.

It's a 'Real Man's' camera, that's why muscle cars are loud you know.

It will show other togg'ers who the Alpha male in the crowd is.

The downside is you won't be able to peep over into next doors garden and take snaps while his wife is sunbathing in her bikini.whistling.gif

I'm amazed the ergonomics actually work for me! It's small and it' so, so light.

Okay, it's actually a lot more limited than the K-3, it's different, but I love it.

Reports on AF performance vary from terrible to usable, we'll see.

Above all, it's something I want to take with me. It's not a big heavy brick.

Blimey T, he's a fun interesting chap!

He just put my glass eye to sleep.

That is how it works. I had the A7 on demo for a short while and used this setting. Assume the A7r is the same.

With the smc Pentax-FA 31mm f/1.8 Limited, not on tripod just propped on kitchen counter.

You were talking about the 7s in another topic for night shots so how come you went for the r model?

On the link you shared it looked pretty good too.

Okay 36Mp versus 12Mp, one of each model would be nice but lots of $$$$.

Got this A7r for under £1100 when the going rate is £1700. A7s still £2100!!!! Wait 'til price comes down. Also this is pretty good in low light, ISO6400 is usable.

I may pick up an A7s later in the year when the price falls and I happen across a bargain.

Definitely never going back to heavy cameras again.

(Also got the A7r for the Sony Zeiss FE 55/1.8 . . . near Otus quality, for £580!!)

Yes okay that makes sense.

So how much import tax are you hit with on the A7r when ordering from Amazon?

I will also never buy the big cameras again as I know from experience that it will just sit home and collect dust.

I will now play around with my Olympus Stylus1 for perhaps a year and if I fell the interest is there I will buy something like you have.

Given up on the idea of spending money on a big motorbike now I got a 4.5 year old son and rather take photos of him which are waaay safer too.

All looks good. You must be well pleased.

Over moon.

Fim, thanks so much for your kind offer of your Leica lenses. I promise I will take great care of them and gratefully accept. I will as asked send you all my Pentax cack in return.

I believe 7%, try this . . .

Just get A7 + Sony Zeiss FE 55/1.8.

A7r is too slow for photographing kids. A7 better option.
