Risks of entry denied?

Featured Replies

So I applied for a ED Visa (with Walen), Papers should be ready in like 2 weeks I guess.

I am flying to Suvanburmi around 5 of August. I am planning to take the 30 day visa waiver, get the documents from the school in Bangkok, then go to Laos change this visa and enjoy my 1 year hassle-free.

My concern is that I'm a bit worried that they deny me entry, since I have a fair amount of stamps already.

Since Apr12,

1 visa waiver (1month),

1 tourist visa (3 months)

Gap ~8 months

1 tourist visa (3 months)

5 days gap

4 in and outs

I left the kingdom the 20th of April.

How likely is it that they don't let me in? If they do, can I explain my situation (applied for ED visa etc)

If I get denied, can I somehow buy a ticket to Laos and go there directly?

If I want to avoid those risk I could apply for ED visa in my home country but it would cost me a fortune and make me waste a lot of time (I live far from any embassy)

Thank for your help

why dont you get a tourist visa?

For the same reason, in my home country im far from any consulate and it costs me a fortune to get there and stay there for a few days, Id rather go to Vientiane or Cambodia

you cant do it by mail??

I think that you can apply by mail to the embassy or any of the 3 consulates where you live.

You have a more than 2 month gap, so should be allright.

Do take proof with you that you intend to study. It might help.

Best is to apply for an ED-visa in your home country. A lot of consulate will allow applying by mail.

@udon I live in France and according to their site you can't apply by mail (but I'll call them to check it).

I guess you thought that I live in Las Vegas because of my IP adress, but I'm only there for a few days.

I would ask Walen to provide you with a letter stating that you have applied for an Ed visa. Also if they have the letter of approval from the MoE before August 5 then ask them to email you a copy of that too. I imagine thaw more proof you have that you are going to do the right thing (as they see it) the better. Though you've been out of Thailand for a while so I would be surprised if you had problems but who knows, that's just a guess on my part.

Can I actually apply for the ED Visa in London, as a non-UK citizen, non-resident? \

For some reason (thanks Ryanair!) it's cheaper for me to go to London rather than Paris, and I've never been there so I'll enjoy it more.

If yes, how long does it takes? And do they ask for extra documents, like bank statements with sufficient funds, or anything else?
