Israel accepts Egypt proposal to end Gaza conflict

Israel agrees to a peace deal. The Palestinians reject it. This is exactly what has been going on for 100 years. bah.gif

For there to be peace in the region, the Arabs have to love themselves more than they hate us.

Look that qoute up.

They hate each other just as much if not more.

If anything, their hatred for each other is one of the reasons why Israel still exists

Well, Hamas rejecting the cease fire might have very serious consequences. While it's not news that Israel is considering ground troops in Gaza, I found this surprising ... the possibility of a really long ground operation there, such as two YEARS.

Nevertheless, if Hamas continues to push the envelope, it may force Israel to not only launch a limited ground operation but, eventually, to expand it and go all the way, uprooting the whole of Izzadin Kassam from Gaza. This process could take up to two years.

Both articles claim is that Hamas was not consulted when the cease-fire was being formulated and that is supposedly the big problem. As far as I can tell, Israel was not consulted either, until they were asked if they would agree to it. If you can find evidence otherwise, from a credible source, please link to it.

All they asked them to do is cease fire on both sides for 48 hours, until they could have a meeting to discuss the real terms. It is pretty hard to show favoritism to either side with those conditions. blink.png

Key quotes;

"Blair discovered Saturday that Netanyahu and al-Sissi had not been in contact, and secured their agreement to speak by phone. Both countries kept mum about the conversation, refraining from informing the press the two leaders had been in touch. The Prime Minister's Bureau did not immediately respond to a request to confirm the details described by the diplomatic officials"

"Senior Israeli officials and Western diplomats said the reason the Egyptian cease-fire initiative was so short-lived is that it was prepared hastily and was not coordinated with all the relevant parties, particularly Hamas."

Take a closer look at the culpability of HAMAS for the suffering of their own people:

The vast majority of the damage in Gaza has been inflicted by Israel. Yet Hamas has contrived to make the carnage worse. It has encouraged Gazans to stand in the way of Israeli missiles. When Israel advised 100,000 Gazans to evacuate an area targeted for invasion, Hamas instructed them to ignorethe warnings. It added: “To all of our people who have evacuated their homes—return to them immediately and do not leave the house.”

Abbas finds Hamas’ behavior baffling. “What are you trying to achieve by sending rockets?” he asked rhetorically in a TV interview. In another appearance, hepleaded: “We are the losing side, and every minute there are more and more unnecessary deaths. ... I don’t like trading in Palestinian blood.”

That’s what Hamas is doing. It’s trading Palestinian blood for political ambitions it foolishly expects to achieve through war. No amount of suffering in Gaza has persuaded it to stop. During the war’s first week, there was vague talk of a cease-fire, with each side reportedly holding out for further demands. Netanyahu declared that “no international pressure will prevent us from operating with full force.” Israel looked like a belligerent bully. On Monday, when Egypt announced acease-fire proposal based on ideas sketched by Abbas, all Hamas had to do was say yes. The proposal entailed no concessions. It was just a break in the bloodshed, followed by talks.

I recall the frequent events at a local motor manufacturing plant that is not there any more.

Always lots of strikes, yes, the workers were labelled as militants and communists, talk of suitcases of dosh coming from Russia, etc.

What people failed to notice is it was no coincidence that there were strikes when there were lots of unsold cars and the car storage parks were overflowing.

Always two sides to a story and I am sure the the Israelis have an agenda of a united Israel, Gaza and West Bank, ...without Palestinians.

The agenda for a full Jewish state have been getting played out in the West Bank since Israel occupied that land along with the Gaza in the 1967 war. That land was not part of the 1949 British deal as the Jewish state but 47 years after the seizing of the West Bank the Jews are well on there way to pushing the Palestinians out of there via institutional discrimination. The world would be better off without nut cases like Hamas. However one can understand why the Palestinians as a people would have a problem with an occupying force that is gradually pushing them from the West Bank through control, repression and violence and turning many into refugees along the borders of Jordan. Give them another 47 years and they will have achieved a full Jewish state including West Bank and Gaza. As scum bag as Hamas are the Jews are not a hell of a lot better.

I agree in the sense that both the Israelis and the Palestinians have been ill-served by their repective political leadership. Both sides are in the wrong somewhere. But it is ridiculous to assert that Israel wishes to occupy both Gaza and the West Bank after they have already exited both areas. That is not to say that there is not some room for further Israeli withdrawals from some areas. But the ultra-right wing pipedream of the Israeli extremists has no more chance of happening then the Palestinian extremist view of the eradication of Israel. which is the position of Hamas.

20 missiles found in UN-run school in Gaza
’BY RAPHAEL AHREN July 17, 2014, 5:05 pm 67 Tweet
Some 20 rockets were found Wednesday in a school in Gaza operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency, the organization confirmed Thursday.
The weapons were found in “the course of the regular inspection of its premises,” UNRWA said in a statement, adding that the school was vacant.
“UNRWA strongly condemns the group or groups responsible for placing the weapons in one of its installations. This is a flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises under international law,” the statement read.
The discovery would seem to confirm Israel’s oft-repeated claim that Hamas and other Gazan terror groups use civilian infrastructure to hide weapons.

Glad to hear UNRWA strongly condemned it, now lets hope they stop condemning Israel for defending itself, and use all their energy on condemning Hamas

The boys had apparently been told by their fisherman parents not to go outside amid the recurrent Israeli aerial attacks. But the urge to stretch their legs in the sunshine was too strong.

"turning many into refugees along the borders of Jordan"....?

What's that all about then? As far as I am aware, there are no new mass refugee camps along Israel's border with Jordan. Can be chalked up as another evil of the Israeli occupation of the West Bank, but under current agreements and military rule, the Palestinians are somewhat limited when it comes to creating new settlements.

If anything, the current Israeli government's focus, as far as it concerns the border with Jordan, has to do with keeping a permanent military presence even under final agreements with the Palestinians. Pushing the Palestinians that way does not fit with this policy.

There are no Israeli settlements in the Gaza Strip, and again - Israel itself includes a large Arab minority.

Brutal. Died on the sands and so were buried in the sands (all within 24-hrs no doubt). Yuck. Won't be playing football there anytime soon.
