"I hate Jews. They are murderers," proclaimed another. Some protesters also distributed stickers reading, "There is no God but Allah, Muhammad is the messenger of God."Yet another sign read, “You don’t need to be Muslim to stand up for Gaza. You just need to human.”One of the demonstrators, who did not give his name, said the protest was meant to show solidarity with Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip."I want everyone to understand the plight of Palestinians," the activist said. "Because what has happened is unbearably violent. It has no shed of humanitarian concern. Palestinians are the victims of international politics."Almost 200 Palestinians have been killed since Israeli forces launched a fresh military assault last week against what they say are Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. The UN has estimated that three-quarters of the fatalities were civilians. The Israeli government says its goal is to “inflict a significant blow on Hamas,” who has launched hundreds of rockets into Israeli territory in the past week. The Israeli Embassy in Bangkok closed down today after it learned about the planned protests, embassy officials said.More than 100 police officers and plain-clothed agents watched the protest from afar without interfering with the protesters.Since seizing power in a coup d’etat on 22 May, Thailand’s military government has not consistently enforced its ban on public demonstrations. While all recent anti-junta rallies have been swiftly put out by security officers, often followed arrests, a number of other protests have been permitted without interference. The latter includes a one-man anti-American protest in front of the US Embassy several weeks ago, a rally in support of the death penalty as punishment for convicted rapists, and sporadic pro-coup rallies over the past few months.Despite its close relations with the US, a major Israeli ally, Thailand recognised Palestine as an independent country in 2012. The Kingdom has also established diplomatic relations with Palestine and voted in favour of its membership status in the UNESCO.Thailand's ruling military junta has not publicly commented on the ongoing conflicts in Gaza.Source: http://en.khaosod.co.th/detail.php?newsid=1405407279 -- Khaosod English 2014-07-

Popular Post SirBser
Its sad to see innocent people die. But i see no hate towards their people the HAMAS who are responsible for escalating this! Hamas, a terrorist organization, purposefully fires missiles from civilian homes, schools and mosques and orders it's people to form human shields around these launch sites so when Israel responds Edited July 15, 2014 by SirBser
Popular Post TVGerry
From the picture, it looks like it's a bunch of bearded Osamas protesting. I don't think the non muslim Thais really give a damn about what's happening there. Not enough to protest at least.

UbonRatch
"The Kingdom has also established diplomatic relations with Palestine and voted in favour of its membership status in the UNESCO." Would be nice if Thailand took its own membership of UNESCO seriously, before voting in favour of others!!
Popular Post Prbkk
Tragic events with the 3 Israeli boys but as usual the Israeli response it out of all proportion and is indeed murderous and hateful. Popular Post zaphod reborn
It's nice to see they let them demonstrate. Of course, Israel basically already agreed to the Egyptian proposal for a truce, so I'm not sure what they were hoping to accomplish. I would have liked to see the immigration police round up the lot of them, because I'm sure there were many on overstay, entered illegally, or had abused their tourist visas by working while in Thailand. But, the junta isn't spiteful like PTP when it comes to foreigners engaging in protest activity.

I'm glad people are protesting this. Did you forget about the ROCKETS? Yeah I agree nothing wrong with protesting Israeli government policies, and yes, they are happening in many places in the world today. But so many of these protests are downright racist. Here -- the Jew hate posters. In Seattle, more Jew hate posters and a picture of a Jew eating a small child. In Frankfurt, Islamists and Neo-Nazis gathering together, shouting Jew hate slogans, assisted by the local POLICE (who provided a loudspeaker) In Morocco, a rabbi on a walk brutally attacked, asking for help, nobody helped. Calach
Why does such an anecdotic conflict make people who are not directly concerned so passionate (from either side), in Europe, America...even Asia now. As far as Thailand is concerned it's not even sure the guerilla in the south doesn't kill more people than these middle-eastern trifles. I think SOME of the local Muslim Thais have fallen under the propaganda spell of more international Islamist extremists ... and part of the core of their ideology is racism against Jews. This is a bad sign. Hardly any Jews in Thailand but this hostility can then spread to be targeted against other groups, most obviously Americans ... possibly Brits and Canadians. I remember when Bush invaded Iraq a lovely young Muslim lady in Malaysia spit in my face when I (unwisely) admitted to be American. I am also concerned for Israeli tourists and Israeli centered tourism businesses in Thailand now. Edited July 15, 2014 by Jingthing
Popular Post Jingthing
They have a choice of not firing rockets at all. No rocket fire, there would have been no Israeli response. Hamas deliberately uses human shields and yes they know the inevitable civilian deaths are excellent propaganda fodder at time like these, they are willing to martyr their own for this. Keep in mind Hamas is openly dedicated to put an end to Israel. That's different than an entirely reasonable Palestinian statehood movement ... Please desist from your snarky and condescending anti-American comments. Personally I have a wide range of sources and I saw that documentary (and a number of others) a long time ago. It refers to the WEST BANK. Yes it is excellent. The current protests are in reference to the situation in GAZA. The current military conflict is between Israel and HAMAS in GAZA. Hamas is a terrorist organization, deeply anti-semitic, and dedicated to the destruction of Israel. Yes they don't have the power to do that right now, but to suggest Israel should willingly LET THEM get that power is pretty nutty ... you wouldn't expect your own country to sit back passively to that kind of hate movement. Keep in mind Hamas is openly dedicated to put an end to Israel. That's different than an entirely reasonable Palestinian statehood movement ... This is typical propaganda from someone who pretends that 'both sides' are at fault. No rockets (which incidentally didn't kill anyone) or no civilian bombings in Gaza has been a chicken and egg conundrum ever since the blockade. It's nothing but bloodthirsty revenge which will create as many more Israel-haters as the two previous atrocities on Gaza. Human Shields is a lie. People defending their own property are not human shields. Rachel Corrie was not a human shield but deliberately run over by an Israeli military bulldozer. Of course the anti-Hamas propaganda is trotted out again when they have absolutely no power to 'put an end to Israel'. Brainless. There is a distinct possibility that they would recognise Israel if Israel would recognise Palestine. BTW I don't agree with the anti-Jewish part of the protests but that's what Israel portrays itself as - a Jewish state.
