There are visas based on employment, study, religion, and volunteering available.

Though i do agree you should be able to marry in this day and age no matter your sexuality, you are only one visa less than non-gay people are. It isn't that unfair, is it?

Get a job, get a degree, become a monk, or volunteer.

It's more about the Thai marriage laws not offering legal equality to gay people which obviously has a potential impact on gay expats in relationships with Thai people. I don't really think it's foreigner's place to complain about that. It's up to the THAI gay activists to do something about this inequality under the law IF they care enough. Don't hold your breath!

The "crackdown" on visa runners does not specifically target gay people.

Sure, same-sex marriage equality does not exist in Thailand, but that is another issue.
