I had a horrid experience just this past week where I had been assaulted in a robbery attempt in a tiny village in Trang . I was completely lost and surrounded by hostiles, Had a helpful villager call police who completely ignored me, untiI I called l the American Citizens Services unit , voila 20 minutes later cop shows up and escorts takes me to police station, some distance away

I had a description a nickname, partial tag and description of the guy's truck done up in reggae and pot leaf motif, local drug dealer no doubt.

At police station I was initially told " No full name , cannot report ..."

Call ACS again... Viola !! Report taken.

However, Sure he will get away with it, maybe need to call the region 8 commander...

They use to come in early June, now in late July. I had to fly to DMK and visit the Embassy, thank you very much… At least I caught a cheap flight on Air Asia for a bit over 2,200฿ round trip and I parked my truck at the airport for 200฿. That's just a bit over the round trip taxi fare from Rawai to the airport, which is now about 1,800฿… What's up with that? The ACS Outreach is still a great service for everyone else who has a need of most US consulate services. My timing was just a month off apparently.

They use to be able to add pages right there onsite, now your passport has to go to the Embassy, but at least now they will send it back by EMS mail service.
