This was already posted here some time ago. The Orbortor has declared the beach club has informed them that only organic garbage was inside, so they won't open it. Looks like they trust them on their words (or something else).

This is even more retarded than an hotel sending their customer feces straight into the sea they are swimming in. You could argue that it's diluted, and that the investment to treat the water is too high or something.

Here, they are burying trash just under the nose of their own customers, while at the same time cleaning the beach, using a whole team to dig a hole in the sand for 30 minutes in order to save themselves a one man 3 minutes trip with a pickup to a proper garbage collection area. You could try to be that stupid on purpose and not even succeed.

Wasn't it some similar garbage dumping happening more North near Bang Tao or Mai Khao some year (s) ago when they even used a excavator?

Typical Thai mentality, why should we care about the beach anymore? We are not making any money out of it.

Did they care before? Not sure!

You are right & it seems like between then & the one just uncovered there may be much more of this than we will ever know. Pure laziness & greed at work.

Just lack of forward thinking. All too common here in Thailand.

I am completely puzzled by this, normally anything you can put into a black garbage bag, you can dump into one of the green garbage bins, and the tessaban garbage truck will take it away.

Do they maybe have too much (unburnable) rubbish? Reluctantly agree, even just dumping it somewhere where others dumped before, is probably better for the environment than giving it a shallow beach burial.

"even just dumping it somewhere where others dumped before, is probably better for the environment than giving it a shallow beach burial." - but that takes time, effort and fuel.

Why not just bury it in the sand? It's not like they actually care about the place.

Phuket only exists for them, right now, in the present, to make money.

They do not think about tomorrow.

From their website:

"Set upon a strip of pristine beach on the west coast of idyllic Phuket, it’s not often that you’ll encounter nature in such commanding form. Tranquil yet vibrant, soothing yet stimulating."

So, they admit to being on public land. Why is this dump not being knocked down.

I'm also puzzled and not really sure if it's so bad thing to bury the organic material to the beach.

They don't put the plastic bags inside, so I guess the organic material will compost in a short time in this climate a bit like leaves or tree trunks in beaches.

No guarantee the contents of the bag were organic, and they kept the bags so they could refill them and do it again.

If organic, should be great when the Soi dogs and rats dig it up.

If not organic, should be great when the sand erodes away, exposing the rubbish, and tourist cut their feet on whatever they buried.

These are the acts of Phuket Thai Criminals. Garbage of any kind does not below on the beach.

Most farangs are to CS to call the army and report these criminals. For sure the army would stop this and put the animals in jail.

Time for the complaining farangs to get off their dead asses and notify the army of these criminals and others. What a bunch of weak pussys you guys are.

A bit harsh, Don.

We are all just guests here, regardless of visa status, and whether you own a business or property here, even if you support a family with a Thai wife and have children, you are no better of than a tourist on a 30 day visa exemption stamp.

They are not interested in foreigner's opinions and complaints, only their money.

Don is not. He has permanent residence status, something he has earned… I've had an O-A non-immigrant visa for several years and I'm married to a Thai, who has permanent residence status in the USA. You're the long stay tourist without a proper visa! What are you going to do when your current 30 visa exempt stamp is expired? I know, you're just a guest without a family here, so when will you'll be leaving? biggrin.png

I don't use the 30 day visa exemption stamps. I use the 60 day tourist visas and pay the 1900 baht to extend it by 1 month.

I am not due for a little while, given I can still pay for the 1 month extension.

I think I will be ok, but I very well may be shut out of Thailand, who knows?

However, in the words of MacArthur, "I shall return." biggrin.png

The restaurant next to Nikki Breach has a pit in back they dump it all and bury it occassionally. Watched a local mobile icecream vendor 2 days ago dump his dozens of wrapppers and other assorted refuse in the sewer/ mangrove area adjacent to the Sirinart Park sign on Layan soi 2. And I do mean sewer smells like sh*t

I need a video cam installed onto my forehead. I constantly see this kind of miscreant behavior.

Fair enough, good luck with your situation. And I'm not being sarcastic for once. Hope things work out for you.

@ Jimi007

Thanks Jimi.

There's no real problem about it. I'll maintain my presence on Phuket. No need to give up the apartment and sell the motorbike just yet. I think I will get back in, but I am planning for the worse case scenario.

I suppose what I have on my side is I am in my late 40's, rather than being in my 20's, which would certainly raise the suspicion of Immigration Officers.

Many have said, "Good riddance" to people like me, but I have no criminal history, I do not work here, and pretty much keep to myself.

Anyway, Thailand is what it is, and who knows what it will become. I'll roll with it.
