Cirumcision in Thail culture

I have a question about this...I realize it is done in some cultures for religious purposes, while others, not so. Some refer to this as mutilation...I, on the other hand find it very desired. Coming from a culture where this is the norm, I am wondering...is this practiced in the Buddhist culture? I am NOT a pedophile, but couldn't help but notice during Songkran, many families coming to this one lakeside and letting their young children (both sexes) run around naked, it was obvious that is not the norm. Again....I am NOT a pedophile, but couldn't help but notice it. Anyone know? The few encounters I have indulged in with Thai men, were with uncut males. I want circumcised. t h

It is uncommon and both a friend and a colleague who had male children were not able to get them circumcised in Thailand -- I am sure they could have, but the doctors for both of them didn't do it and wouldn't give them any advice on the issue.

The Muslim men are almost always cut, so you might want to check out areas with a larger Muslim population (and yes, they can be quite cooperative).

Filipinos are generally cut as well, and there are quite a few gay Filipinos in Thailand.

You have no idea how happy it makes me feel to have known something about the gay world before you JT!!!

Since I spent most of life crawling around the world on my knees, I am an expert on a number of things like that.

If you know any Filipinos -- and there are a lot that teach -- you might want to ask them about where it can be done in Thailand. Quite a few are married with children.

Yep, well it didn't match with my experiences back in Daly City!

That was news to me!

But it seems you're right:

How horrible.

Circumcision is mutilation, and it is barbaric. For NGOs to provide it as a free service, for the whole village to watch, makes me want to vomit.

It's not all bad. It looks good. It's cleaner. It's associated with lower HIV risk in heterosexual men. Sorry about your vomiting. Bad for the teeth.

I know I'll get howled down for raising this ... but why is this a 'Gay' question?

Indeed, logically, it's not. Merely an observation on the Cultural practise in Thailand

I appreciate that the OP describes himself as a Bi-Sexual from his only other post.

He's shy and a bit confused.

Finally finds somewhere where he can actually talk to like minded men, like you....!!!

I still find the seeing small children run around naked weird, though.

I did, my sister and brother did, my cousins did, And that was in the cold of Scotland..... Good for the blood circulation.

Here in Swissieland it's going to be 35 degrees tomorrow. Everyone off to the beach and off with the clothes---

I'm not howling...,but what sub-forum would you ask this question on? I figured this forum would know right out...and they did. I thank all for the very informative input on this. I have learned lots from this little question due to all the wonderful answers you folks provided...again, thanks to all. T H
