Holiday Visa Extension on marriage Mukdahan

Featured Replies

Im here on a 30 day waiver visa...I came in on the 22 june,My Thai wife just had a baby and she won't be out of hospital until the 22nd so I was going to take the Mum in law to the Immigration at Mukdahan on monday 21st to do an extension on marriage,I do this all the time and I have no problems I was wondering if anyone was having problems trying to get this type of extension,I'm Irish btw and I have been married about 2 years and I work offshore so just doing visa's this way has been easier.Ive overstayed around 3 or 4 times but only for a couple of days basically not keeping an eye on my visa dates. Thanks for your help if you have any info.

You can get a 60 day extension. A note from the doctor informing immigration your wife cannot travel might come in handy, as the wife normally must attend.

Thanks for that I will get my wife to get a letter from the doctor when Im at the hospital later,I have been getting the 60 day extensions for a couple of years Im just wondering is anyone is having any problems with this type of extension now?

You should be able to get a 60 day extension. But normally you wife would need to be with you. Have her sign and date copies of her house book and ID card..

You could also do a early morning crossing to Savannakhet and have a multiple entry non-o based upon marriage in your passport that afternoon from the consulate. They are doing same day service for visas now.

I have signed copies of House book passports etc..I don't really want to do a border crossing unless I have to,just in case they might refuse entry..from reading about all this crackdown it seems you just can't be sure of what reaction immigration will give now.I usually just go to my local immigration office in Nakhon Phanom and extend without having to travel to Laos.

You would be coming back with a multiple entry non immigrant visa valid for one year.you certainly would not be refused entry.
