rice export is it possible?

Featured Replies

hello people

its easy to export rice from thailand to europe? it can be done?

im interested to buy rice from thailand. i have speak with some locals but they say that cannot export rice. (they dont have enough rice, dont know how to export, too much effort for small quantity, bored to involve etc).

the internet is full with companys who sell rice but i want to collaborate with a small farm / farmers.

the price they give me is about 2 euro per kg. with this price plus the shipping costs i have to paint the rice yellow and sell it as gold. or grey and sell it as rocks from the moon.

is it possible to have a happy farmer and a happy importer?

i want to start with 50kg for demo purposes. all depends from final price and quality.

nothing ready yet because i want to know everything before i (and if i can) start. i have already some customers to buy the rice (varius shops and private individuals)

suggestions and any other info from the farmers are more than welcome smile.png

i hope i have place this topic in the right section .unsure.png

Interesting question, the Thai Rice exporters Association might help.I say 'might' again.

The most expensive rice on our local market costs max 1 euro a kg.

So they are charging you double prices because you want to help them.

Oh sorry that i replied, i 'm not a farmer and would rather grow durians for 600 $ a piece.

50KG buy it from tesco lotus for a lot less than 2 euro a KG

Big choice of quality as well, about 10 different grades all less than $2 a KG thumbsup.gif
