EC candidates to be named for reform council
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- The Election Commission will name two candidates to contest for a seat in the National Reform Council (NRC), EC member Somchai Srisutthiyakorn said yesterday.

He said the commission had yet to discuss whether it would select 'insiders' or 'outsiders' to become members of the reform council.

Somchai, who oversees the electoral process, said political parties should also be allowed to nominate representatives to contest for a seat in the NRC.

He called on the National Council for Peace and Order to lift the ban on political parties from holding meetings so they could select representatives.

The NRC would have 250 members, including representatives from all 77 provinces.

The interim Constitution of Thailand took effect on Tuesday June 22nd.

Since this is a new defining document of rights for the Thai people, carries the force of law, and is the foundation for creation of a new permanent constitution. I would expect it would be published through all news media for the education of the population. But I haven't seen the document. Does someone have legal access to it to share on TV? It's apparent that former PM Democrat Abhisit has seen the document and he has made some public remarks regarding parts of it. Or will the CDA, NRC, NCPO, and NLA work in secret before the permanent constitution is published, ie., to minimize conflict in society?

I guess it was published in THAI only at firstrolleyes.gif

By now there's a wiki page

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_interim_constitution_of_Thailand

A more complete text is on the worldpress site, but since it uses the slogan "A place for all the news the Junta would rather you didn't read" I guess I shouldn't annoy either the Junta or the mods here by posting the link wink.png

ADD: all accessible using trueWIFI in Bangkok

Not much on the WP site as yet but only up for 3 days so far.

I wonder if the author will use the new stickers? Perhaps not!

Some German chappy/chappess has done all the hard work of an unofficial translation into English, I take my hat off to him. The perfectly non controversial link is here:

The WP translation looks identical to the lawdrafter one. WP gives as original source

http://www.isranews.org/isranews-article/item/31533-translation.html#.U9CgZg0amPt.twitter

with ISRA the Institute Thai Press Development Foundation. Most info on the side is in Thai of course.

If you look at the bottom of the "original source" quoted by WP, i.e the iranews link you provided, you'll find this written

"from : http://lawdrafter.blogspot.com/2014/07/translation-of-constitution-of-kingdom.html?m=1"

If you look closely you'll see that the link that the iranews provides is the very same german blogger that I provided in my post.

That is why the WP translation looks exactly the same as the translation provided by the lawdrafter site - because the original source is the lawdrafter site.

All candidates subject to approval by the powers that be of course.

I know isn't it exciting now. New start from the old regime, new reforms for a happy Thailand, sorry it turned out this way thumbsup.gif

I guess your home country is also under military rule and all that entails and you find that acceptable no matter what came before.

Can't see any other reason for your continued support of suppression.

Naturally.

That way it will be a fair and honest committee. No badgering about white washing Thaksin. Along with thousands of other criminals.

You have a better idea.

I do not mind any kind of rule as long as it serves the interest of the people. Hell of a lot more care now than there has been for years, and every week is improving.

Sorry your sour grapes are hurting you.

Your firs sentence sums your attitude up, near anything is better than the PTP elected, but undemocratically run government.

END OF STORY, live with it. I will until I find it is not favourable to the country. Smile for the people here, chin up.

Let us hope so. The new constitution will have the experience of seeing the failings in the older ones and the ability to correct them. If it goes out to the public while they are in the process of writing it the public will simply return to the state of disunity that the NCPO is trying to eliminate. Every politician will get up on their soap box and create a disturbance.

Let the final draft speak for it's self. It will be written by people with no personal agenda in it. People who are interested in the welfare of Thailand. They will be composed of people with different ideas and these things will be discussed and debated on with out the likes of Jatuporn Thaksin or any of the other party leaders trying to influence them with their party line of thinking.
