Help changing visa

Featured Replies

Hi,

I need a bit of advice please. My passport is almost full, and it has many Thailand visa's from when i was working in Norway for 6 months then staying in Thailand for 6 months. More recently i've been in Thailand for 1.5 years..... 6months on a tourist visa, and currently on an Ed visa.

My problem is......

I've been offered a job a top tier university but I cannot change my Ed visa to non imm B inside Thailand. The university have told me that I need to leave the country and come back on a tourist visa. Now under the current situation, I'm certain when they look in my passport they will not let me back in.

Is there anyway around this?

Thanks

There is no reason they would not let you re-enter the country. You have been reading or hearing false info.

Just go out for a single entry tourist visa.and you will have no problem re-entering the country.

The problem you have now is that the work permit office will not accept the application with the extension of stay based upon going to school you have now.

Hi.... Many thanks for your reply. It's on this forum that i've read that people are leaving the country and applting for correct visas (tourist) but they are being denied at the border based on the officer not believing they are "real tourists". The first instance was at the Malaysian border.

Those that got turned away had passports full of visa exempt entries and then a tourist visa. They were told to go to KL and then fly in.The only place it has happened is in the south.

You will be ending a period of time after having extensions based upon study not making border runs so you will not have a problem.

Again, thanks for your reply. Would flying down to KL and coming back the same day be an option? Or do I need a proper tourist visa to get the non B?

I suggest you get a tourist visa to insure you will have enough time for the work permit application to be approved. There may be some work permit offices that will not accept the work permit application with only an exempt entry.
