webfact
Thammawattana siblings end decade-long family feudBANGKOK: -- Thanks to the mediation of the Criminal Court, the rival siblings of the Thammawattana family have agreed to withdraw from the Civil and Criminal courts all the 48 cases pending consideration and to end their decade-long violent family feud. Two opposing factions of the wealthy family showed up at the Criminal Court Tuesday morning at the court’s order to mediate a case in which Mr Vikrom Thammawattana sued Ms Kanoengnit Thammwattana, Mrs Narumol Mangkornpanich and Mr Naring Wongthai of giving false statements to the court.Mr Vikrom took the case to the court after Ms Kaneongnit allegedly gave false statement to the Civil Court prompting the court to prohibit Mr Vikrom from using the shares of Suvapee Thammawattana Company to vote at the shareholders meeting of the company. Also present at the court on Tuesday were Mr Noppadol Thammawattana and other siblings of the clan. The mediation lasted more than an hour and it ended sastisfactorily with the two factions agreeing to withdraw from the courts all the 48 court cases between them.Mr Noppadol later said that he felt grateful to the court for its efforts to reconcile the conflict among the family siblings which escalated after the death of his brother, Hanthong. He went on saying he had offloaded all his shares in the company and his business to Mrs Narumol, his sister, who will supervise the family’s business.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/thammawattana-siblings-end-decade-long-family-feud/ -- Thai PBS 2014-07-
