Hi there,

I was after some opinions, me and my 3 friends are travelling to thailand in the new year. We are planning to go to phuket and stay in Karon Beach, travelling to phuket town and patong to do shopping etc. My travel agent has quoted me prices for the Central Karon Village and the Horizon Karon Beach Resort and Spa. I have read a bit about these places and i understand its a short hike to the beach up and down a hill. Is these places within walking distance to Karon Village i.e. restaurants? Would anyone reccomend any other nice resorts to stay in good location within Karon Beach?

Thanks for your help! :o

its not a paticularly long walk from the resorts. central koron village isnt central at all, its out of the twon and on the way to patong.

to be fair though doesnt really matter where you stay as most will rent a moped and scoot about on that. kata and karon run into one another 5 mins( 10 if u r slow) from one end to the other on a moped. patong is about 10-15 away by moped / tuk tuk etc

lots of hotels etc in and around karon & kata as its very popular as it is slightly removed from the mayhem / bar scene of patong.

if you pm me (or reply here) how much you want to spend per night i will send you some links to the hotels etc.

Thanks smartcosse,

We are travelling in the off season, and are looking at rates around what the central karon village charge. I would love links to resorts you think are in a good location and are quite nice to stay in, even if they are a bit pricey, as hopefully my travel agent may be able to find us a good deal :o

Thanks so much for your help!

if you have a look at this link for prices you will see what i mean

the prices triple in price almost from the low season to jan time :o

I see what you mean, we were looking at leaving on the 29th January, which i guess is in the lower part of the high season haha. Unfortunately university limits dates when we can go :D

Thanks so much for your help!
