You cannot change visas. But you can apply for an extension of stay based upon attending a school with a non-b visa entry.

If you are already on a extension of stay you got at immigration you would just change the reason for your extension..

So I am on a non b visa now which expires on the 27 of September so your saying I could extend my non b visa again for education purposes and not work purposes anymore? And then later I could change to a non o visa?

Pay attention. What ubonjoe is telling you, you apply for extension of stay for reason of education, not visa. When you entered with a non-imm visa, it is possible to apply for different reasons of extension of stay, depending on the situation. Again, these are not called visa.

Pay attention to what I am saying... I am trying to be clear that I can extend my already obtained non b visa that I extended already for 1 year that expires end of september to extend it again for a few more months not for work BUT for education purposes is this correct? Then later I need to change to a non o as I am getting married but I am only able to get my letter of marital status in October so therefore I cannot get my non o before my non b expires and that is why I am looking at other options so I don't have to go through the hassle of leaving Thailand.

You have been answered above already. If you use the correct terminology that will help you understanding. Both Non-immigrant 'B' and non-immigrant 'O' visa are non-immigrant visa, hence the correct prerequisite for applying different type of extension of stay.

So in your case as long you can obtain an extension of stay for any valid reason, you do not need to leave Thailand and do not need to "change type of visa".

Visas are not extended only permit to stays are.extended. If you look in your passport you will find a stamp that immigration did in it that says "extension of stay permitted to day month year",

You can change the reason for the extension to any other with the required supporting documents.
