Places to eat in Doi saket

Just moved to do saket which is a bit of a drive into the city. Can anyone recommend good places to eat (thai and western) which are near by. Preferably no closer to the city as the outer ring road.

Really looking for a good rice soup shop. Also places that are open late is a plus.

Good duck restaurant on out of CM to CR highway before the hospital. Good Somtam and honey roast chicken same side ofthe road in BoHin. Good Jok at the night market outside 7/Lotus opposite Floraville/Riding club. No need to go anywhere near CM!

This place is well worth a visit in Doi Saket.

A bit hard to find first time though.

Great for pork knuckle and German style sausages.

G&M is at BoSang, not Doi Saket.

If you gonna go that far, might as well start listing all the eating places from the moat to Mae Rim.

We travel for the rotisseri honey chicken place on 118, might be the same place as laolover88 recommended, can be recognized by the big grill with turning whole chickens on the road side. Fiore Rosa for Italian, esp Saturday set menu (buffet they call it) and also Locanda something?, sorry forgot name but on left side of 188 when going North right after Doi Saket turn off.

Just moved to Doi Saket in the middle of July. Actually there are 2 grilled Chicken stalls on 118's roadside. One is in Isan Style call "Gai Yang Vichien Buri", the other is honey roasted Chicken. Of course, both signs are in Thai Language.

I feel that most restaurant along 118 open late in the afternoon. I never tried any of those restaurant you guys mentioned on those link, but I am willing to.

It takes me only 15mins to get to Central Festival, Lotus, Big C and Star Avenue. There are so many restaurants in those places. Or else, try to cook. It's fun. I am having fun cooking :)

Going back toward CM there is a pedestrian overpass around Bo Hin. Go left at the soi there and about 100m down the road across from the wat is Pa Daengs good khao soi and other local dishes. More upscale is or was the Palms and the Jasmine Hills restaurants closer to Doi Saket. Also the pizza place across from Vieng Doi moo baan on the way to Bo Sang is a local expat favorite.

Thanks for the tip on the honey roasted chicken...

It's listed as Doi Saket.

Unless you want to start being pedantic about it.

Just trying to let the OP know of a decent restaurant in his / her area.

Go pick on someone else.

Defiantly a new be.wai.gif GM is in Doi Saket Amphur. In large districts in Thailand it is very common to have a district, amphur, provence AND city with the same name.

The Palms cloudhopper mentioned is a good one but only open Thursday-Sunday I believe. Baan Ton Palm is the full name and phone number is 053 291 401.

You must have a reservation at Baan Ton Palm or they will not seat you and even be a little rude about it. It seems to be more of a part-time hobby-like business based on their opening hours. The owner likes to know in advance how many will be coming each night they are open so he can plan on purchasing supplies.

A few not mentioned are I am Gourmet for cheap Western Food, the menu is pretty average but the staff and friendly and they do a reasonable plate of ribs there. Mr Esarn does good North Eastern food if you didn't guess by the name, good gai yang, somtam and beef sausage it's in Doi Saket town itself near the market and on the road to the Amphur.

There is also a little Mom and Pop style Thai food place just along from the Tesco Lotus that does standard Thai food, I grab their Salad with Pumpkin Sauce for 30 Baht to take away they do good size bowls of noodles here and all the usual.

Just past the Doi Saket turn off is Dairy Goat Cafe where you can get a good fresh goat milk smoothie and various pork dishes cooked in goats milk, everytime I've been there they have been out of Goats Cheese but it is on the menu, kids can feed the kids and goats as well.

My top pick is Sol E Luna Italian restaurant just before the Doi Saket turn off, great home cooked Italian food with a friendly no frills atmosphere..I love this place.

Where is I Am Gourmet located? Do they make....burgers?

Just past Bor Hin going towards Doi saket there is a big sign outside they are on the road. Yes they do burgers fairly average but as I mentioned in a previous post very cheap.

just passed by there about 4 days ago and was going to stop in as the name sounded interesting. it looked like a typical Thai restaurant out in the sticks but with a falang name. i looked, then gave it a pass and went to the Jiang franchise on the opposite side of the road further down. it was spotlessly clean.

Just went into Doi Saket Town/village? today to get a few groceries and ate at a new place called Tip Top Cafe just along from the Tesco Lotus on the same side of the road heading towards the market.

A nice addition for those who live in the area, Went with the wife and kids, Two of us had pork steak with asparagus and cheese, with a few french fries, we also had fish, french fries and salad and chicken Kiev, french fries, salad. reasonable size portions for lunch but not a real blow out, we also had 1 beer, 1 orange juice, a water and a Iced Chocolate drink, total cost 430 Baht for the 4 of us, which is a pretty reasonable price for lunch. The food was good but not spectacular but I wouldn't expect it to be at the price. Large Leo was 65 Baht btw.

Also probably near the OPs travel limit is Larp Gai, a great place for Thai food and a nice atmosphere overlooking a large klong. It's out past the Bor Hin microlight field and not easy to find but someone may be along with the google map app to help. A local favorite and well worth a visit IMO.

  • 3 months later...

There's a recently opened Thai-Kiwi restaurant on the Doi Saket road...Klua Donpim.

Heading out of CM towards Doi Saket on the 118 after the Outer Ring road and about 1k past the big PTT gas station on the left. It has a big Kiwi out the front.

Had a lovely roast leg of lamb lunch there today.

Food off the menu is good too.

Was this an attempt at satire?

No, just a lack of knowledge. The place is called Iam Gourmet, since the owner, a lovely Thai lady in her 70's, is named Iam. as in the expression "may iam", meaning brand new. To farang eyes, Iam becomes I am. No, you aren't. And yes, the food, both Thai and farang is great, including the burgers.
