Thaksin orders Pheu Thai, red-shirt leaders to forgive and forget: report

Personally I don't understand the analogy. Becoming a grandfather, does not coincide with becoming apolitical. Thaksin remains a political bumbler who's luck has about run out.

no problem, it is not really a news story, it is just gossip. Nothing to really understand about it.

I agree that his luck is running out - or it seems his influence.

Wow, what did Thaksin do wrong to receive all this negativity?

Seems like a nice airport.
Skytrain is pretty cool.
The 30 baht per visit medical program seems to help many in need.
Everyone benefited from the economic recovery from the 1997 Asian financial crisis.
Reducing poverty from 21.3% to 11.3% is a good thing I think.
Balancing the national budget and producing fiscal surpluses for 2003 to 2005 would be considered fiscally responsible.
Foreign exchange reserves doubling seems like a success.
Government Lottery for education would have not only reduced illegal gambling, but provided education for those in need.
Privatizing MCOT and increasing freedom of speech seems like a move in the right direction.
Student Loan Fund (SLF) helping low income students get an education with low interest rates was nice.
Supporting Nicholas Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project was a cool idea.
Wholesale power pool competition in the energy markets lowering these costs would tend to benefit the people.
Introducing Islamic law and making Pattani-Malay (Yawi) an official language in southern region seemed like a start to help reduce conflict there.
Transformation of the government department, ministries, and provincial governors operating style of the traditional bureaucracy into a more results-oriented instrument would have been awesome.
Crackdown on mafia crime was long overdue.
Profit agreements with Cambodia on the huge oil potential in the gulf of Thailand could have made Thailand energy independent.

you have a lot more posts than I do, so you should know that people here just hate him.

Even if he is not the real problem.

And you wonder why some people think that there are imposters out there being "rewarded" for their glowing opinions of Thaksin and his cronies. I just don't see why they would think like that.

Yea me either.

That's a fine thing to say to win brownie points, keep up the nice guy image (he believes) HE is the main sharag and instigator ---what a false face he wears.bah.gif pewk.

I think that you are actually a closet red shirt trying to avoid detection by holding extreme opposite views.

Why was my post clipped to suit ?? must be your obsession with your uncle that puts your brain into silly mode.

With you slagging off non admirers of Thaksin---an comment on the red shirt involvement from afar or do you condone it.

You haven't had any angry words to say about Thaksins antics, or Yingluck not reigning the red shirts in when PM. and wanting democratic elections so she could run the regime for another 4 years.

Do you realize it is you that is holding extreme views now. the worm turns.

Two faced

Thaksin wanted the Pheu Thai and red-shirt leaders to forgive and forget and end the conflicts during the tenure of the junta.

After the Junta turns it over for a public election they will be ordered to resume with their corrupt vindictive ways.sad.png

Even if the things mentioned above were true, it still doesn't wipe clean the sustained problems he's plagued Thailand with for over 10 years. In Colombia, Pablo Escobar was widely popular in his home town because he made sure every local person saw him donating for the local football team and window dressing things like that. That didn't make Escobar any less of a dangerous scoundrel to the better informed, but it sure worked to impress the peons.

I take immense pleasure in knowing that these kids will grow up asking who that square headed man in the photo in the hallway is.

He may see them once or twice a year, but his arrogance, cowardice and corruption is costing him far more than the money was ever worth.

...he will die a sad, lonely man.

You are a sick f*** taking pleasure in the break up of a family.

Wasn't him that ran away like a coward?

No sympathy here for him either, he deserves everything he gets in terms of any disruption in his life.

Interesting.

"Thaksin orders Pheu Thai", well we already knew that even if some still bleat on about tangible evidence. "Thaksin orders UDD leaders", again we already knew that, but again to be denied by others.

Definitively a state of democracy we should go back to, having a criminal fugitive ordering things.

Mind you, the spin is good. "Thaksin order to forgive and forget" and all praise him, while in the same breath condemning the NCPO for their 'happiness program'.

Anyway, were there any legal lawsuits which had valid, legal grounds?

BTW does this mean we in Bangkok will have our governor back again?

Well let us consider the source.

The Nation

Does this mean that the phony charges of murder that they trumped up against Abhist and Suthep will be dropped? That will be the acid test of his resolve.

Were his lips moving when he said it. That is a dead give away that he is lying.wai2.gif

Overjoyed with news that he is about to have twin granddaughters...

Overjoyed at the thought of new generation of Shins to carry the baton for him. He probably imagines putting these two up as PT leaders once Yngluck, Panthongthae and his two daughters and their husbands have all been banned from politics and/or imprisoned.

...has ordered leaders of the Pheu Thai Party and the red-shirt movement to withdraw all legal lawsuits against their political opponents...

So all of these law suits have been filed simply to please Thaksin and none of the plaintiffs who have gone to all the trouble and expense actually give a damn about any of the cases. It is no coincidence that Thaksin's own cases against the AEC for abuse of power and against Kaewsan personally for defamation have just been thrown out of court. So he personally has nothing to lose.

We can only hope that the NCPO, the new government, the NRC and the constitution drafters do an effective job to ensure that no one from this disgusting family can ever be involved in politics ever again and there is no need for any further coups to get rid of them.

The real problem is the hate...

Actually the real problem here is some disciple posting absolute crap (half-truths & lies) and then trying to defend it.

Just a smattering of examples of the lies:

The Skytrain was started before Thaksin came to power (early 90's) and he did his best to prevent the BMA expanding it to cross the river and extend to Bearing.

The economic recovery from 1997 started in 1998 and was well under way BT (before Thaksin). He did f'all to clear up the FIDF debts of B1.1tn.

MCOT wasn't privatised. PTT was partially privatised.

He certainly didn't 'introduce' Islamic law.

No crackdown on any mafia. Chalerm and many others are still operating. He did give the BIB a free pass to kill c2,500 'drug dealers' which did nothing for Thailand's drug problem but did result in the deaths of many innocents.

Most of the rest is unproven BS.

Didn't mean for you to take this so personally.

Good politicians implement good ideas, not just there own. Thaksin did not hinder the progress of the Skytrain, he helped to ammend a law in order to allow a private firm to finance the cost of operating the train system

Do you mean he was in a government that allowed private investment in the Skytrain?

Yes, he did do his best (and thankfully failed) to prevent the extensiions of the BTS by the BMA (run by the opposition). I was here at the time and remember it vividly.

I don't take any of your efforts to falsely boost your hero personally. I do reply quite often to obvious bs posts.
