Popular Post h90
Can not forgive but this country should forget that this despot ever existed. He and his ilk have brought nothing but disgrace and destruction to the Thai people for their own personal gains. The Shins have been a malignant cancer devoid of character and responsibility and have little or no empathy with either the country or the citizens. Obsessed by only their own stature and wealth they have continually raped this nation for over a decade and deserve to receive the contempt for the damage they have caused. No the country should not forget, they should take all this family got in Thailand and give it for the poor. Land, properties, cars. As well as an example for the next wannabe dictator.
ChrisY1
"Overjoyed with news that he is about to have twin granddaughters" She's been pregnant for five months and he's probably known about the pregnancy since before the coup. Due to the timing of the announcement now this is probably part of a larger coordinated plan with the greens. Everyone can hope this is a move towards reconciliation. Win win. Is she married?...if so anyone know who the poor soul may be?..... Edited August 17, 2014 by ChrisY1
Living in a cartoon
His offspring can be born or visit him in whichever country he resides in. pmugghc
Thaksin knows very well in which direction the economy is headed. He eagerly waits for the day when people will say "remember the good old days, when Thaksin was in charge?" Unless the regime can come up with something other than "crackdowns", such as a sound economic strategy to avoid economic ruin, Thaksin will have his wish. Economic ruin? Are you referring to the rice scheme, which has been abandoned?
rucus7
Personally I don't understand the analogy. Becoming a grandfather, does not coincide with becoming apolitical. Thaksin remains a political bumbler who's luck has about run out.
Robby nz
It would appear that Khun Thaksin has received some more bad advice from one of his PR or strategy teams. This announcement has just proved beyond all doubt who was, and still is, giving orders to the PT party and by extension their Government as well as the red shirt leaders. If anyone believes he thinks up all these moves himself then they must be deluding themselves for it has been shown several times in the past that he has hirelings at his beck and call to do these things for him. 'Thaksin thinks PT acts'....Well PT may have acted but the Thaksin thinks bit is a myth. Thaksins advisors think and he passes their thoughts on.

Popular Post Ricardo
"It quoted a Pheu Thai source as saying that Thaksin wanted the Pheu Thai and red-shirt leaders to forgive and forget and end the conflicts during the tenure of the junta." The key words being "during the tenure of the junta", after which it was be back to S-clan business-as-usual, or so he hopes. But at least this suggests that attempts to form a breakaway-state in Lanna, or a government-in-exile, will receive no further support or advice from overseas for the time being.

Popular Post Tatsujin
Is anyone still claiming that he is NOT the mastermind behind ALL the problems here and running the country illegally from abroad? Yes, of course. All the usual suspects. Career PTP/UDD/Thaksin apologists & denyers, the lot of them. But a bit more cautious now. Some of them may be justifiably nervous now that the "overseas payment" financial records are surfacing and some may well have been paid trolls as we suspect. (Is this working)??? However, they are all masquerading as Democracy ADVOCATES now, because it is illegal to be Democracy ACTIVISTS anymore. "Respect my terror bombing" didn't work but every time you hear ":Respect my vote" remember who is doing the talking. I have no respect for Thaksin, Yingluck, PT, their Ministers, the UDD, the red shirts or any of their supporters here. Nothing they have done deserves respect, quite the opposite in fact. There has been an ongoing campaign for the last 10+ years by Thaksin to destabilize this country, undermine the support for democracy and the Monarchy and effectively set Thaksin himself up as the new Messiah in Thailand, where he expects to be loved and adored and to have no questions asked cos he's doing it "for the people" . . . it's all cynical greedy bullshit. And so many just don't see it.

I would have thought kicking out the PTP, locking up the crooked members of that hoax party (all of them in my book) trying to fix all the fubars created by Yingluck and co', and shutting down the Thai Rouge, would be a good way of avoiding economic ruin.

Popular Post boomerangutang
A beaten man with no where to run to. Ha ha and now he will promote himself as a caring grandfather with love in his heart to all fellow men. Look into his eyes and what do you really see. What do I see? I see a man who enjoys bolloxing things up big time. I see a shyster who is up and down, hot and cold, switching his fixations as often as a kid with $5,000 in small bills, going between a weapons shop and a chocolate factory with a shared doorway. He's like a flag flipping on a pole in a gale. One day payinga head monk to gather all the monks at a wat to honor him (and his astrologer) in an elaborate well-publicized ceremony. The next day, arranging to clandestinely transfer big money to Red leaders in Thailand for military mischief. The next day, calling down to Liberia to secure more blood diamonds. A busy man.

Popular Post dukebowling
Wow, what did Thaksin do wrong to receive all this negativity? Seems like a nice airport. Skytrain is pretty cool. The 30 baht per visit medical program seems to help many in need. Everyone benefited from the economic recovery from the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Reducing poverty from 21.3% to 11.3% is a good thing I think. Balancing the national budget and producing fiscal surpluses for 2003 to 2005 would be considered fiscally responsible. Foreign exchange reserves doubling seems like a success. Government Lottery for education would have not only reduced illegal gambling, but provided education for those in need. Privatizing MCOT and increasing freedom of speech seems like a move in the right direction. Student Loan Fund (SLF) helping low income students get an education with low interest rates was nice. Supporting Nicholas Negroponte's One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project was a cool idea. Wholesale power pool competition in the energy markets lowering these costs would tend to benefit the people. Introducing Islamic law and making Pattani-Malay (Yawi) an official language in southern region seemed like a start to help reduce conflict there. Transformation of the government department, ministries, and provincial governors operating style of the traditional bureaucracy into a more results-oriented instrument would have been awesome. Crackdown on mafia crime was long overdue. Profit agreements with Cambodia on the huge oil potential in the gulf of Thailand could have made Thailand energy independent.
