Nakhon Ratchasima managing public transport services to return happiness to people

NAKHON RATCHASIMA, 19 August 2014 (NNT) - Nakhon Ratchasima province has started to manage public transport services in the province to return happiness to the people by requesting cooperation from every sector. The authority plans to follow up in every district in September.

Lt Gen Chanchai Phutong, Commander in Chief of the 2nd Army Area, has ordered the 21st Military Circle, Nakhon Ratchasima province, Nakhon Ratchasima transportation authority office, provincial police, the provincial administrative organization and municipality to jointly cooperate to manage public transport services for the safety and security of the people according to the National Council for Peace and Order's (NCPO) policies.

After it was reported that public transport service providers sometimes overcharge passengers, talk impolitely and break traffic rules, the related agencies joined up as a commission to manage the service.

Currently, there are more than 3,000 motorbike taxis from 314 service providers, more than 400 vans from 26 service providers and 91 taxi cars from 2 service providers available in the province.

The commission is now arranging training for all public transport service providers to ensure they are aware of traffic rules and regulations, gain proper awareness of their obligations and are registered in the system. The commission will begin following up the results in September.
