Foreign Ministry denies Saudi downgrades relations with Thailand

Featured Replies

I think you will find that the Thaksin administration handled it worse.

2011-2014 where the 5 police were corruptly handed 'not-guilty' verdicts, judge switched.... typical corruption all the way.

Glad they are gone.

I hope Saudi expels all Thais and recalls all their people from Thailand.

Who cares? When we want to chop off the hands of a common thief or stone a woman to death for adultery... We'll give you a call.

Wait and see, Saudis do not forget.

Big supporter of the Saudis are you?

Thai court is always right. Please respect the law of the country you are in.

A clash of cultures maybe? The Saudi’s most likely had high expectations that Thailand and it’s people would adapt to their culture. Also I presume, there must be an insurance company that wont payout on the lost diamond fiasco in the end which probably explains why they’re a bit-terse with Thai at the moment.

I think you need to read a little history, the Saudi's expelled all the Thai labour after the original crime. There were literally thousands of Thais working in Saudi, now there are none. The ham fisted handling of this has cost Thailand billions of dollars, most of which was going to the poorer areas of Thailand. The Thai amart could not give a toss.

Maybe you should also say that to Judge Somsak Phonsuk who disagreed with the court verdict and said he was ready to convict but was removed from the trial.

The Thai labor was expelled because of theft of the crown jewels.

So a week into the job and the FM is already lying.

Thais are born with that "gift".

Hi ALL

I am a Thai national now settled in India with a PIO card. Have been assigned to a project in Saudi but unfortunately the visa has been rejected citing reasons that Thai nationals are denied entry to Saudi.

Any idea when this stand off is coming to an end...

Thanks

Let them downgrade, I will not miss them at all. Just remember how they treat us in their country.

Not so. ALL companies must be majority Saudi owned if not managed (gawd help the multimationals)

I hate to burst your bubble Nobbie, but you are mis-informed.

Not all companies have to be Saudi owned. I work for a large multinational in Saudi and though they do employ local people it is by no means Saudi owned. Having said that I agree with your last statement Gawd help any company that has Saudis in the office!! ( when they bother to turn up!!)w00t.gif

The Junta's bosses have all the jewels, of course it isn't going to improve relations!

Well you'd have to guess that they ended up with someone powerful. Under normal circumstances, for the sake of the nation and relationship with one of the worlds richest nations, a lowly no name laborer would have been thrown to the lions for that crime. But he wasn't.

There are people who know where the jewels are and choose not to speak. Why?
