Did you fully reboot your computer ?

You could clear out the browser's cache also.

I have rebooted my PC again and tried again with the same post. Out of 10 tries, I got it 4 times correct and 6 times messed up quotes, similar as in the screenshot I posted.

Why is everyone so hesitant to use the sample post I provided, but is so eager to use other posts to claim that the problem is only with me ?

What version of Iron are you using ?

Downloaded yesterday so I assume the latest version.

Version 36.0.1950.0 (285000)

While looking up the Iron version in another tab, the TV page crashed again.

Looks okay to me.

Where does you screenshot shows that you edited out all but the last 2 quotes ?

I didn't edit anything.

Look at these two screen shots:

1. The post you linked to.

2. The post you linked to which I'm about to reply to.

Do you see anything out the ordinary ?

I asked to edit out all quotes except the last 2, because you can't reply to a post with 5 quotes inside.

This is the result I get when trying to do that, I'm sure you will notice something out of the ordinary in the result

Could be a problem with your graphics card or your power supply.

Are you using a laptop or a PC ?

In Thailand it's best practice to use a UPS for a PC and have good ventilation for your laptop/PC.

I use the same PC with the same Windows 7 and the same GPU as with Firefox.

You seem to be able to post in this thread very well and, if having issues with Iron, you can change back to FF or try Palemoon.

Good luck solving your "problem".

Hope you have UPS if in Thailand for your own sake.

Amazing how people bend in all directions to claim I'm lying, but refuse to post a simple screenshot of the result they get quoting and removing excessive quotes from a sample post I provided.

And what has UPS to do with this thread ?

Not sure anyone said or even implied you were "lying" ... Most have tried to offer help to you.... Go back and use Fire Fox, you are happy with that, and you seem to be able to drive it ok.... I'm out.......

Everyone is saying they have no problem at all with Iron, but have a bucket full of excuses not to post their result of quoting and removing all but the last 2 quotes, from the sample post I provided.

Isn't that the same as saying I'm a liar ?

Let's quote this thread and do a test the shall we?

I suggest you make a folder containing a new, fresh, Iron executable to rule out any other issues. For the sake of the test - don't install any add-ons or apps.

As you see there is no problem quoting this post and removing quotes, but it doesn't make sense to do a test with a portable version without add-ons installed, since I use a PC version and I need the add-ons.

Doing as you say would falsify the results.

Now after I tried 10 times to quote the above post and removing 1,2 or 3 quotes, without any problem, I went back to the post I linked to in my post #44 and tried that one again.

From the 10 attempts I made on that post none succeeded.

Another issue with the Iron, quoting a post and removing the excessive quotes. Impossible.

Just tried for 5 minutes on a post and gave up.

Iron will be removed now and will go into history as worst browser ever.

I don't get it how 2 mods can recommend this browser, as they must experience the same issue with Thaivisa.

Back on FF now.

So, four people recommended this browser, including two ThaiVisa moderators, and YOU are experiencing a few issues while using it here, but it's without doubt the recommended browser that is at fault, of course! facepalm.gif Well, for once, I'm going to be as quick as you to jump to conclusions: I'm 100% sure that you have (or had) specific issues on your computer because I don't experience (for instance) your problem with quotes and I bet that you won't be able to reproduce it on my own computer.
Not sure that I am ready to help you to troubleshoot those problems of yours though, because English is not my native language, therefore, it would probably take me too much time to explain you in details what you should check and perform on your machine (provided that you still trust me to recommend you a few free, efficient and well-tried tools, which I now seriously doubt!), and you don't seem to be a very patient fellow. I also am not really patient enough with some people, but maybe other ThaiVisa members are and will be of help in your case. Good luck and have a good day anyway!

I appreciate your comments, and yes I'm not that patient, especially if the issues concern the website I use the most of the time.

Please try to do what I posted in post #44, and let me know the result.

Attached is the screenshot.
Your problem is probably caused by an outdated or incompatible add-on / plug-in / widget (although it could be caused by many other things, but it's 100% due to something on YOUR computer).

I use Iron every day including when posting the news and have no issues with it whatsoever.

It is exactly the same as Chrome without the snooping.

Ok, Try the following post, or any other similar post for that matter. Reply to it and remove the excessive quotes so that only the last 2 posts remain.

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/754033-immigration-bureau-told-to-be-flexible-with-visa-runners/?p=8288512

The result should look like I replied to it using firefox and which is here

http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/754033-immigration-bureau-told-to-be-flexible-with-visa-runners/?p=8288557

I have tried and retried with Iron, and it always messes up the quotes. I don't know how that could have to do anything with my PC.

Jesse, Here's the answer...

Yes, it appears to break when you edit it. The reason is because you must manipulate the text differently when using Iron vs how you did when using Firefox.

I have performed the edit you claimed could not be done here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/754033-immigration-bureau-told-to-be-flexible-with-visa-runners/page-18#entry8291974

Here's how I did it:

Getting a work permit...

1. You put you flashing cursor at the start of the above text (obviously you 'll be on the other thread and quoting/replying the actual text).

2. Then you "Backspace" to delete all the quotes and boxes you want rid of.

3. NOTE: When using Iron or Chrome, block-selecting the elements you wish to delete using the mouse might break the forum-script. However; If you place you cursor as above and use enter/backspace then you can do what you want without errors.

Indeed, the way you describe it works, but a bit time consuming don't you think?

Also you have to be careful because if you hold the backspace tab a tad too long the whole post is gone and you can start all over again.

So we can agree that there is a way around the issue, but not really user friendly.

I'm really fed up with firefox at the moment as it hangs, crashes and whatever more. I haven't updated to the latest version since I haven't read much good about that one,

I want to get a decent working browser. I'm a bit hesitant to install Chrome since Google already spies enough on us, but may be someone can confirm or reject that suspicion.

Obviously no web browser is good enough for you.

I suggest you stop using the internet.

THANK YOU

That must be one of the lamest comments in Thaivisa history. I posted my experience with the different browsers, you try to find an excuse to blame the issues on me, while they are with the browsers.

Because something is for free isn't an excuse to have it full of bugs.

By the way, nothing is for free, even not FF or Iron, you only pay for it indirectly.

That's not how I proceed. I simply select the part that I want to delete with the mouse and then, hit the [Delete] key. There are many ways to proceed, of course, but mine works fine and is, IMHO, much less complicated. If it doesn't work for you guys, I suspect that there might be another problem on your side. By the way, if I recall it correctly, I don't proceed differently when I sometimes use Firefox instead of SRWare Iron.

The way you describe is also how I'm used to do it, only with that particular post it doesn't work for me on Iron or Chrome, but does on FF.

There are other posts on this forum that have the same issue, then there are posts with as many quotes that don't have the issue.

Difficult to determine where the problem lays, but I doubt it is with my hardware. I more suspect it is some conflict with something in those particular posts.

I don't think that it is a problem related with your hardware, but most likely with a piece of software that is installed (or that is missing or corrupted) on your computer, and I strongly suspect that it is an incompatible or outdated add-on / plug-in / widget or extension. Of course, sometimes browsers are buggy (and that's probably the main reason why they are regularly updated), but in this case, it's something else and it's 100% on your side, even if you still seem to doubt it despite being obvious after all the tests that have been done already.

Iron was downloaded yesterday. All add ons were downloaded yesterday. So will not be outdated I assume.

Sandstorm has the same issues as me with that particular post, so I'm not alone, all other have for some reason refused to use that particular post, but were eager to use other posts.

Could it be because they have the same issue, but don't want to admit it ?

Even I was reluctant to post in the other thread something that is totally unrelated with its main topic just to show you that one can easily perform with SRWare Iron what you requested, thus, I can understand that other members preferred performing their own tests in this thread instead.

As I wrote before, your problem could be caused by many things, and even if I strongly suspect that it is related to an add-on, it has to be checked properly. Even if your add-ons have been downloaded and installed recently, it doesn't prevent you from encountering some compatibility issues, for instance. Some add-ons are developped for one specific browser (or one specific version of a browser) and can cause several issues if they are used with another one. I suggest that you read the following webpage (for instance): http://internet.answers.com/web-browsers/understanding-browser-add-ons

Again, your problem might be caused by something else and troubleshooting it properly might require a much longer investigation, but that's where I would start if I were you.

But seriously, you're not important, and believe me when I say this... Google does not give one poop about you or your computer.

Go with Google Chrome.

Tell that to Snowden.

As you will know, this morning I downloaded Chrome, and without any add-on installed, it had the exactly same issue with that particular post. I haven't tried any other posts with Chrome since it was obvious that the problem was the same as with Iron.
