August 23, 201411 yr is there one browser that uses less resources than all the others ? just basic for email mostly that loads quick on a reboot , sometimes all I want is to check my email , and very light browsing , and then turn the computer off
August 23, 201411 yr Author Another issue with the Iron, quoting a post and removing the excessive quotes. Impossible. Just tried for 5 minutes on a post and gave up. Iron will be removed now and will go into history as worst browser ever. I don't get it how 2 mods can recommend this browser, as they must experience the same issue with Thaivisa. Back on FF now. August 23, 201411 yr I use Iron every day including when posting the news and have no issues with it whatsoever. It is exactly the same as Chrome without the snooping.

Iron will be removed now and will go into history as worst browser ever. I don't get it how 2 mods can recommend this browser, as they must experience the same issue with Thaivisa. Back on FF now. So, four people recommended this browser, including two ThaiVisa moderators, and YOU are experiencing a few issues while using it here, but it's without doubt the recommended browser that is at fault, of course! Well, for once, I'm going to be as quick as you to jump to conclusions: I'm 100% sure that you have (or had) specific issues on your computer because I don't experience (for instance) your problem with quotes and I bet that you won't be able to reproduce it on my own computer. Not sure that I am ready to help you to troubleshoot those problems of yours though, because English is not my native language, therefore, it would probably take me too much time to explain you in details what you should check and perform on your machine (provided that you still trust me to recommend you a few free, efficient and well-tried tools, which I now seriously doubt!), and you don't seem to be a very patient fellow. I also am not really patient enough with some people, but maybe other ThaiVisa members are and will be of help in your case. Good luck and have a good day anyway!
August 23, 201411 yr is there a way to put SRware iron on a USB stick so it runs on a computer at a internet cafe etc is it just a browser or also an OS like a Chromebook would use ? I wonder if anyone put the 2 together yet Edited August 23, 201411 yr by BKKdreaming

I wonder if anyone put the 2 together yet SRWare Iron is not an OS, it's just a browser, and yes, you can install it on a USB stick. You may find the ZIP file for the portable-Version for USB-Sticks (no Installation; no Admin-rights needed; Profils in the same folder) here: http://www.srware.net/downloads/IronPortable.zip Edit: Didn't notice quickly enough that you've edited your post and have already found the portable version... and that ThaidDown beat me to answer the OS question! As a matter of fact I am posting using it now... From what I can work out, it is a re-badged Chrome, and operates much the same way... without the snooping. If you don't like chrome, U aint going to like Iron... the controls are the same.... Out of interest what browser have you been using? It sounds to me, you have a conflict going on on your machine.... The browser is performing flawlessly for me, and by the sounds of it , for others as well To those who drew my attention to this browser.... a big thank you

It's also possible to boot another OS from a USB stick (many Linux distributions allow you to do so). I haven't done that yet with OS Chrome, but there are many websites that explain how to (just google "how to run chrome OS from a USB drive", for instance). Here is one (among many): http://www.howtogeek.com/128575/how-to-run-chrome-os-from-a-usb-drive-and-use-it-on-any-computer/

Yes, Hiren's Boot CD comes with Opera web browser, but you will need to first configure your network settings, and that might be a bit tricky sometimes (depending on the components you are attempting to use then). By the way, Hiren's Boot CD is not really an alternative OS, it's mostly a collection of very useful tools, even though you may also use it to browse the web, but for this purpose, other more elegant and convenient solutions do exist (a Linux live CD / DVD or USB, for instance).

I don't know how that could have to do anything with my PC.

Just installed Chrome, just out of curiosity, and tried the same reply and removing the excessive quotes. Result the same, impossible without messing up the quotes. If it is an issue with my PC, why I don't have the issue with FF on the very same PC ? When there is a need to install tools and extensions to make a browser function properly, that means in my opinion that the browser has shortcomings.

I seem to remember having a similar problem using Iron for another forum. As I remember it was like a sticky Ctrl Key problem when editing a forum reply... Sounds familiar? I then installed Google Chrome, to double check, and experienced the same issue. I thought to myself "Chrome is useless". The forum was running "SMF forum software" so I actually posted a massage on their support site. However; No one else, using Chrome, could replicate the issue. I then re-booted my computer and have not re-encountered the issue since. (I'm posting this using Iron) EDIT: The problem was "cannot create new line, when using Iron/Chrome, without pressing shift button". Edited August 24, 201411 yr by RandomSand
