Was yesterday in Udon Thani Immigration, 2:45 PM quiet, nearly no Falang.

I applied for an extension of stay, for my soon running out Non Immigrant O Visa, reason,

taking care my Thai children, living with them and their mother.

Had all papers and copies with me.

This time, I was alone there,

before hand, I had, when I applied for that extension, sometimes, my whole family with me,

or only my sons, or only one son, or only my GF or came also alone.

So the last time, some month ago, I was also alone there.

The Immigration officers know me, recognize me, so is the supervising officer of last Friday.

But, the young female officer asks me, looking at my papers, are you alone without wife? GF? here.

After my yes, answer, she meant,

she had to ask the supervisor, if I can get my extension and walked in his office.

Needed long time, maybe he was busy with something else, or he called his superior?

I got a bit agitated, as I drive 85 km to the Immigration and once was turned back,

as a signature from my GF was missing on a copy and lamented that my Gf is 7 month pregnant,

we have a bad bumpy road out of the village, she feels not good driving there in her state.

I said also, why there is no information, before, that I have to bring after years and many extensions my GF with me.

Answer, that is new!

I asked if its enough, if my son(s) would join me, 6 and 10 young.

The lady officer complied she does not know, if that would be enough.

I asked than, if I am divorced or/and not living together with the mother of my children, she even in another country, who shall I bring than, if I live with my children alone, if bringing them with me, is not enough?

The officer said, she does not know that either.rolleyes.gif

The senior officer came than and I got my extension. All smiles, ok, on the end.

Than hastily, I got two papers presented, which I had to sign, but immediately taken away also,

I could read nothing, but thought, that will be these papers regarding the new Overstay regulations.

So, I asked for the papers to be handed over to me for some time to have a look at them at least.

One was that Overstay memorandum and the second one was advises, if the status of myself staying in TH changes, the reason, I got my extension is not longer relevant, I have to inform the Immigration, Extension will be revoked.

Seem really a bit more cold wind blowing threw the Immigration offices. whistling.gif

Nothing wrong with the two documents you were shown and made to sign. They merely confirm the current status.

You were, however, let off easily, apparently because you are known by face to some of the immigration officers. The extension is for living with a spouse or child of Thai nationality, and in your case the child with whom you claim to live would have to accompany you to confirm it, or if the child is younger than seven years you would need to show the court decision that that granted you custody for the child.

Good to see that the Udon Thani immigration office is accommodating to people they know well.

Maestro if I may ask a question.

My job is ending in late Sept. I don't know when I will be able to line up a replacement. I am married and have 2 kids. Can I get an extension based on this ? What happens if I can meet the 400k criteria at this time?

Cheers in advance for your advice.

You can get a one year extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai if you can meet the financial requirements of 400k bath in a Thai bank in your name only for 60 days or show poof of 40k baht income.

You need a non-o vies entry to apply for it.

Thanks Ubonjoe:

I hope to have some new employment sorted in the next month - but might need a bridge so just want to be covered in case I don't make my one month deadline. As mentioned, I dont have the 400k in the bank at the moment - just purchased a truck a little while back so that's not an option.

You can get a 60 day extension to visit your wife. She will need to go with you to immigration when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate, wife's house book and ID card.

"Nothing wrong with the two documents you were shown and made to sign."

True, but they did not give me any time to read, not said a word, they presented the paper, I should sign and immediately,

the papers had been taken away. . blink.png

" in your case the child with whom you claim to live would have to accompany you to confirm it,"

Cannot see that here as a "must"?

http://www.thaivisa.com/non-imm-o.html

I thought, that that was a fact at the first extension, but not always a -must-.

Also Udon Immigration let me more than once make an extension without anybody else from my family present.

And also that Immigration prefers to see the mother as it seems, not the children, in the first place. rolleyes.gif

So, I was surprised and the lady officer said also, its "NEW".

Maybe new in Udon Immigration, that they enforce that.

So, you have to take your child, or your children out of school, I am 85 km from Udon city, the school is 110 km from Udon.

My boy(s) will be happy.tongue.png

Consequently, the child must also accompany me when I try to make a Non Immigrant O Visa, for the reason, that I stay with my child, or my children, no?

Otherwise, that enforcement, that I have to show up at an extension with my children or mother of the children is not understandable. whistling.gif
