Hello all, I am desperately in need of help. After informing my current employers that I had found a new job they have cancelled my visa. I was told that my visa would be cancelled and that I had 7 days to sort a new one. I have received no written confirmation of this and am unsure whether they have begun the process or not. Do employers have to inform employees when the are cancelling their visa?

If you are on an extension of stay based on employment, you permission to stay is no longer valid when your employment ends, no 7 day grace period. You would need to apply for the 7 day extension. They should probably give you a termination letter or something for when you turn in your work permit.

You should get the appropriate documents from your new employer, and apply for a new visa if it isn't possible to make the transition in the 7 day period.
