60 day entry stamp

Featured Replies

Hi all, I have a 3 x 60 day visa bought from the thai embassy in the UK, I currently am on my first stamp which I have extended for 30 days at the bangkok embassy for 1900bhat.... I have since moved to the north of Thailand and my 30 day extension is due to run out on the 28th..... I am planning on going to Laos tomorrow by bus and just wondered what I need to do, I am planning to stay in Laos for one night so as I understand it I do not need need to do anything and just get my stamp when I re-enter? The info I can find on Laos is people getting a visa etc however the way I see it is I already have one just need the stamp, am I correct? Do I need to pay anything? Sorry if this is already covered I just could not find anything relating yo my situation and as I am leaving in the morning wanted to be sure.

Thanks in advance

You will need a Visa for Laos if you don't already have one, can be obtained at the border, not sure of the fee now. For Thailand, yes, simply exit and re-enter on your second entry. Be sure to use your third entry before the validity expires.

Makes sense, cheers for the reply

I guess you mean an immigration office.

so 60 days tourist visas with immediate exit and re-entry are not considered "visa runs", the ones where people are now having an issue?

A tourist visa which you've paid money for and that money has gone in their coffers.

Is OK.

However arriving and getting a visa exempt for free then expecting to do border runs forever. Of which the Thai government get nothing.

Is a thing of the past.

For now. all could change soon though.

Hello, I forgot to ask, can my Thai wife come with me with just her ID? she does not yet have a passport but I am told she will be ok with just an ID?

Thanks

She cannot enter Laos with just her ID card. She has to get a border pass that will allow her to stay for 3 days. There are offices near the bridge that do them.

I am not sure about Nong Khai but it was recently reported that they are not allowing crossings at Mukdahan with a border pass due to martial law.

Are you aware you could get a multiple entry non-o visa based upon marriage in Savannakhet with no financial proof needed. This visa would give you unlimited 90 entries for a year.

You can also get 60 day extensions at immigration to visit your wife.

P.s could I go get that now? Even with mine about to expire? Also what is the cost... Do you have the details of the place I need to go? Thanks a lot

You could do the 60 day extension at your local immigration office. The cost will be 1900 baht like all other extensions.

Your wife will need to go with you. You will need your marriage certificate (plus a copy) and copes of your wife's house book and ID card. You may also need proof of residence unless you are living where your wife's house book is for.

For the multiple entry non-o at the consulate in Savannakhet you would need the same paperwork as the extension. The visa will cost 5000 baht. Just do a search for Savannakhet and you will find many topics about it.
