Long-term motorbike (scooter) parking at CNX?

Featured Replies

I'm planning on leaving my mid-range scooter at the CNX parking lot for four nights while I'm in Bangkok. I've got an early flight.

Anybody been doing this recently?

Why not leave it at the same place you leave it every night?.

Buy a small padlock and chain for extra insurance..

Then get a songthaew to the airport.

I've left my scooter at the airport many times, sometimes for a week. Most scooters parked there are not locked but I lock mine. Haven't had any problems.

Thanks man, that puts my mind at ease.

Left my Honda Wave their 4 days a week for two years as I was working in Bangkok 3 days per week. Never a problem. I did put a padlock and chain through the back wheel and around the seat.

ditto, no problem whatsoever for four or five nights.

I do the same as" kilt".

Leave my scooter for up to a week in the CNX parking lot. I have a chain and good padlock to secure it and never had a problem.

Does anybody know the all-day/overnight parking rates for motorbikes/motorcycles at Chiang Mai Airport (CNX)?

Perhaps it's free for two-wheelers (wishful thinking), and they only charge for cars.

It is free. Wish I knew that. Also fairly safe. Steering lock, alarm and GPS sticker deters on my one.

Thanks to Freedomnow for promptly answering my question about the cost of motorbike/cycle parking at CNX.

After posting the question, I did find at the official Chiang Mai Airport website its parking rates, which only show amounts for 4- and 6-wheel vehicles (implying that the 2-wheel variety are gratis):

Thanks, again.

I parked the PCX locked the steering and put the bike cover on, secured with a few heavy office clips. 3 days all good and free. Sadly it was raining heavily when I came back.

I can confirm the free and convenient parking of motorbikes/motorcycles at the Chiang Mai (CNX) airport.

See the attached picture from the start of a recent 4-day sojourn, during which I parked between the International Terminal and the Kaewplasod (แก้วปลาสค) Restaurant. The latter, by the way, has excellent Thai dishes at reasonable prices, and a fascinating collection of historical photographs of old Chiang Mai and antique appliances, despite its otherwise commonplace decor. It's a good place to dine before a flight.

At the airport, there's a large, long parking section reserved for motorbikes that seemed much better organized than I have found elsewhere, with little double-parking by inconsiderate bikers who block your exit.

There's also no restriction in parking bikes in the much larger section reserved for cars. I saw quite a few bikes parked in the triangles of space unusable by cars between the perpendicular, peninsular curbs (kerbs, for those of a certain English style) and the angled, painted, parking-lane stripes.

I did luck out with good weather on my return, and not have to face securing my baggage onto the bike in a pouring rain. But just in case, next time I plan to carry a large umbrella on the flight, and if necessary motor it to an overhang at the terminal for the tying-down process.
