How do you rate NZI insurance? Any good or bad reports please...

I was thinking of taking out an NZI contents theft policy.

An insurance company is worth its weight in gold if it pays out legitimate claims. If you have any experiences with this company in the LOS can you please make comment. Im more interested in what happened when you made a legitimate claim. Did they pay out or make excuses

also forgot to mention, if we dont have security bars on the windows do the insurance companies still pay out in the event of a claim

My understanding is that NZI buildings/contents insurance is now through Safety Insurance - both are part of the same group. I have house and contents with them and there was no mention of bars on windows and nothing in the policy. Fortunately I have not (touch wood) had to try and make a claim.
