BANGKOK: -- Police investigating the August 11 collapse of a Pathum Thani condominium that killed 14 workers are now waiting for Chanaichon Kerdthes, an executive of Plook Plang Co Ltd, that was in charge of the construction to surrender.

Pathum Thani provincial police chief Maj-General Smithi Mukdasanit said yesterday that police have interviewed 48 witnesses and were waiting for Chanaichon, who is wanted on an arrest warrant issued by Thanyaburi Court.

He said an engineers' probe into the building collapse should yield a result in three months.

As for the building, police have been told it will be turned into a garden, while the rest of the condominium project would go on as planned, he added.

Told by whom? I would suggest that as one construction has collapsed there is a pretty good chance the one behind it will collapse as well. Perhaps the 'engineers should be checking those as well, before the entire area is designated a 'garden'.

A rock garden I presume.

They once made a movie, 'Swimming To Cambodia'. He likely remembers seeing it and that's what he did. Problem was, there was no river. So, he had to leave the area. Likely swimming the Andamon Sea towards Sri Lanka. If not that movie, perhaps he saw 'Runaway', which no matter what, that's what he's done!

Try Cambodia, they have formed a Thai fugitive of the law club there, situated in some posh resort no doubt...

.....3 months....???

...nonsense......

Er, how about the cops get off their butts and track the guy down.

No doubt he fled the country, maybe Singapore , residing with the Red Bull Driver, who killed and dragged that policeman through the town...

How can people live with themselves, after such a terrible crime....

"Chanaichon Kerdthes"

Now there's a familiar surname. Blue Diamiond affair anyone?

You're most probably right about the construction quality of the second building, but I'm also sure that if they complete it as planned, not a single Thai will want to live in it .

Ouch! cheesy.gifclap2.gif

Shhhhh... they are hoping we will forget.... but we won't.

And you never know when buy a new condo. Didn't collapse during the construction, but may collapse later ....

And off course this greedy and "no comment" idiot won't come back, he may make a club with Thaksin, the red bull heir and more ....

They already have a "club", the HiSo club, to gain membership you must be from powerful families, or have influential friends, also you must show no sympathy for those that you hurt/maim/kill or towards their families.

Just another example of the Mai Pen Rai syndrome. Move on, nothing to see here.

He/she hasn't returned? Wow! I wonder why? Same same as motor vehicle crash - just run away.

I wonder why the police did not pick them up at the time of the collapse?

Maybe the police even escorted him to the border, his father is a police Lt Gen cum notorious murderer and theft suspect, who'd want a guy like that to be arrested, imagine he'd start to speak about the skeletons hidden in many closets, can't let it happen, it's enough of a risk he might have incriminating evidence hidden in some attorney's safe, can't shoot him either then, so...

Until the cause of this is confirmed (different construction method / foundations etc)no-one , Thai or Farang is going to touch these condos. RIP to the workers.

There are plenty of these dodgy medium to high rise condo’s right across Thailand waiting to fail or fall.

The main problem with these buildings is not necessary the design but a combination of issues such as the structural support systems used during construction, work methods and substitution of materials for cheaper inferior building products.

It may look good on the outside, which is always the case in Thailand, but it’s whats on the inside that counts in terms of having structural stability.

The sign “Safety First” erected in front of a construction site is just a marketing illusion to make you feel good about it, when in reality it’s not practiced at all.

Sadly this is because, most Thai construction companies and developers in the last 4 years have been motivated by the notion to build cheap and sell expensive.

That's why the builder tends to "run" when incidents like this happen in the end.

As you know, Chanaichon's daddy is already in the slammer for a few years, so I expect he's done a long distance run and not just to Poipet to play the tables.

Fled to Cambodia on a permanent vacation until all is forgotten.

Or in other words, arrest warrant, Face Safety and forgotten until next year....
