What's the news in this? I thought One-Two-Go was a discount airline.

A standard airline, Thai Airways, flies the same route for 1620+505 tax = 2125

For the 400 Baht difference ($10 USD) I'll take the more experienced airline with generally better service. Just now, trying to book on One-Two's website was a nightmare. Thai's was a breeze.

The price advantage is disappointing. The new service doesn't offer a reduced rate for children, whereas Thai does. This further reduces any saving for two adults plus a child. Also the luggage weight allowance is less generous that that of THG. Overall I am not sure they have got the marketing right. Guess the main benefit is more choice of flight times.

Ummm... I booked a friend a flight on One-Two-Go's website with no problems at all... it's not that much of a different procedure than any of the others... :o

Five attempts to book a flight, and the error message kept coming up: "Can't choose a return date sooner than your departure date." I didn't: double-checked the date/month/year. I don't have time for a site that's clearly in need of further de-bugging. Makes me wonder if they bother to debug the aircraft as well.

Were you booking a return or one way flight ... ?

The luggage allowance is exactly the same as with THAI AIRWAYS.

nevertheless, I doubt this flight will be successfull.... yes, 1-2-go do a pathetic marketing indeed.....

AIRASIA stopped flying to KKC due to lack of demand more than a year ago....

the thing is, Khonkaen is just 450 KM from Bangkok and can be easily reached by bus in less than 6 hours for 350 Baht.

those people who choose to FLY on such a short distance are usually not in dire need to save a few BAHT. they wont change to 1-2-GO or Airasia to save just 400-500 Baht, they will continue to fly THAI.

Airasia offered fares starting as low as 99 Baht plus taxes, and still didnt succeed..... so for what reason should the 1-2-GO flight be successfull then ? Khonkaen is not meant to be a low-fare-airline destination. Same goes for PhiLoke, which 1-2-GO started to fly as well, short distance, there are no customers for a low-fare-airline.....

thats my humble prediction....

That sounds like a very good and reasonable assessment of the market situation. I think Thai Airways gets a fair number of international transfers on their domestic routes, many of which come into Thailand on TG so it's more convenient for them to purchase their ticket abroad. Also frequent flyers on Thai get mileage and also get an additional luggage allowance. For example, I get 20kg extra on Thai but not on 1-2-go. I just had a look at the 1-2-go website and it came up in Thai. I then spent way too much time trying to find the English version until I realized that the British Flag in the upper right corner was the link to the English version. IMHO, very poor design of their website. Someone from the UK may spot it right away, but if they're targeting a worldwide market it'll be completely lost on some people.

I've flown BKK-KKC ~ 6 round-trips on TG in the past 12 months. The flights always seem full? (I usually take the first flight BKK-KKC, and the afternoon {2nd} flight back, not on the same day.) I think TG used to operate 4 dailies, maybe down to 3 now. Also, sometimes the equipment is Airbus A300-600 (~ 250 seats) or a 737-400 (~ 150 seats). Judging from the passengers, especially at the baggage carousel in KKC, I don't think there is a lot of international O & D (Origin/Destination) traffic on this route, but there is obviously some. Since there has been no talk of turning this route over to NokAir I assume it's reasonably profitable for TG?
