Staying in Thailand for 2-3 weeks after ED Visa expires - how?

Featured Replies

My ED visa will soon expire but I would like to travel a bit more in Thailand - just 2 or 3 weeks or something. What options do I have as they visa runs don't work anymore?

In order to get a new visa, I have to leave the country no matter what right?

What types of visa would you suggest?

A Tourist visa should work right? What country is best or closest or most efficient to acquire a tourist visa?

Thanks!

If you eligible for a visa exempt entry you fly out and get a 30 day entry or 15 days or 30 days if from a G7 country by land,

If 15 days by land is not enough you could get a 30 day extension a immigration (new rules).

If not you could go out for a tourist visa.

I thought this wouldn't work anymore since a couple of months. Being eligible for a visa exempt or not, is defined only by the nationality right?

This would be the perfect choice, 15 days is enough

Visa exempt is determined by nationality.

Only if you had already made a in/out visa exempt entry would you have a problem getting one. The new rules do not count any type of other entry or extension.

So one last stupid question to verify:

As I am from a country that is eligible for a visa exempt. In addition I have not left the country since I got the non immigrant ED visa. Thus, I am eligible to get a visa exempt by just simply leaving and re-entering the country. Is that correct?

You can just leave and re-enter country and get a via exempt entry without a problem.

and this would be great if I can get 30 days extra.

But if I would get that would that somehow void my Non O?so after this 30 days I have nothing? But I can at least get 7 days?

Ok I just see the answer as I was posting. Thanks

If you have been in country three years with extension of stay, your original visa has expired since a long time.

If you cannot obtain another extension for study, and it seems that you can't, you will need to leave country and come back with a new visa.

No you cannot get a 30 day extension.

You would have to leave and re-enter the country to get a visa exempt entry if you qualify for them.

ok I thought so ,But I can get 7 days?
