Growing maprang(plum mango) in Thailand.

Recommended Posts

You see them all around Samui, no one even bothers to pick them, they fall on the ground and rot! facepalm.gif

An Ozzy friend suggested that they would make good jam, but I really don't think the locals would be into jam making! wink.png

I guess too small and tedious to eat?

Unless you have multiple roots on your trees you should not expect a significant amount of fruit for several years, We have an older tree yielding 2,000 baht each year, but have younger trees not doing very well after several years. Btw Mariam plum.

Easier to eat than mango as no peeling required.I love them,Some are sweeter varieties than others.i know three thai families that grow them between 5-20 trees each.As most are friends I get given loads of seconds(mostly marked skins) for free. The top grade ones fetch good money. They are the ones that are rapped in paper.
