DrTuner
A smile like that from a N. Koran!!! They shot the ones who didn't smile. Well, according to you most of the females in the top picture would be dead. It's only the high kicking babe in the lower picture that's grinning. The top photo ones were the ones doing the shooting. Maybe the high kick & grin has something to do with a Wild West style shooting at the legs.

Benmart
An unusual and misguided topic IMO. There are serious issues facing the country, as he said on his numerous TV addresses. This may have been a lapse in judgement or on the advice of someone else. Comical, puzzling and certainly fodder for the world media.
khaowong1
Maybe think up a new story line, they all are basically the same, nasty mother with equally nasty daughter, mother wants her to marry hansom rich man,but hes in love with a sweet young girl, enter overtly gay man stage left, and a couple of maids, thats it folks!, change setting but keep story line.mind dumbing tv, oh and don't forget the bells and whistles for effect. bye the way i don't watch them, but watch the wife watching them. regards Worgeordie You forgot the hero going temporarily blind after being hit over the head or grazed by a bullet which enables a trip to Europe to see a specialist. Unless it's a costume drama of course when the trip will be to a palace in Ayutthaya. Pretty girl always marries the hero and the nasty girl is either gang raped by a group of Burmese labourers or her family goes bankrupt. You have a future in tv production.

jpeg
like in ... referring to the wars with myanmar, cambodia & stuff of the past, to make them feel good ? stealing obtaining land in the south from moslims & having a war & useless killings ever since ? And forgetting to mention the two Thai women who saw off the invading Burman, and whose famous (in Phuket anyway) Heroines Monument, aka The Chicks With Sticks, were Muslim They never mention that Edited August 29, 2014 by jpeg
gazmat
As long as the production values, writing and acting quality are up to scratch, why not? Thai equivalents of the many landmark historical dramas the UK have produced over the decades would be a feast for the eyes. Somehow, I doubt it though! What would be good would be a Thai equivalent of David Attenbrough and the BBC Natural History unit bringing the magnificent biodiversity of the Kingdom on to the screens of the Thai people before it is forever lost to concrete cathedrals to consumerism or corrupt capitalism. bangon04
Now he's telling people what they should watch on tv. I guess I will go out and get all 5 King Naresuan movies and watch them. That will make him happy. Only 5 so far? Strange, it certainly seems like there are many more...... Yes it is your civic duty to sit through the whole lot... Jonmarleesco
History? Patriotism [nationalism]? They're called soap operas for good reason, Mr Prime Minister. Once because of soap companies involvement, but they are also all froth and no substance - operas and characters, alike.

manarak
These broadcasts are totally worthless! I watched a few to get a feeling for it - usually the story is for most part the same in 80% of cases and totally daft. They should bring some reality and intelligence into these stories and promote the values of education, honesty and work.

tonbridgebrit
"He said he would like these Thai soap operas to contain the country’s history and patriotism."Good idea. Thailand is for the Thais. Thailand is not for the Cambodians. and it's not for people from Laos and Burma. And whatever people say about Thailand and Japan during World War Two, it still holds true that Thailand was NEVER colonized or taken over by another country. Maybe, we as foreigners, will never understand the sense of pride that a man from South East Asia will have because of the nation never being colonized by "Europeans". How proud are the Vietnamese about winning the war against America ? I really do think that most people want pride and dignity more than they want money and economic growth. Popular Post dominique355
Most people from Europe get an uneasy feeling when "patriotism" "nationalism" and similar appeals to basic instincts are made, especially by military and governments. We know where that leads to...1914-1918 and 1939-1945.
