8i8 Posted July 12, 2006 Posted July 12, 2006 hey koh phanganers!!! how are you today?! there used to be a coin operated washing machine at the dr.com place (on the road between the hospital and the temple). it cost 20 baht per load, and was oh so convenient... sadly, it blew up, taking part of their roof with it!!! so now i'm back to paying 40 baht/kilo to my local dhobi-walla... yes yes, i know i can wash it by hand, but it just seems to accumulate so quickly... so, what do YOU do? have a sunny day,, 8i8

sbk Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Yes, well not alot of people get the whole "living on a small island" idea. Very few seem to understand that the smaller the place the more likely it is that goods will be more expensive since bringing them in (on a boat) will be in a far lower volume than some place larger. Economies of scale. If you don't get it, google it.
TonyMontana Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 8i8, My washing machine also cook and clean the house - and runs on just rice and water... Seriously, if you are here for a 'long-term' - buy a washing machine and if you are not, what's the big deal about paying 40 Bt per kilo? Since I guess you are single, otherwise your gf would do the laundry, how much laundry can you get in a month wearing a 'tropical uniform' - shorts and t-shirt? Even if you change clothes everyday, it can't add up to more than 400 Bt a month. If you can't afford that go back home or get a gf that can do your laundry. Tony PS. Be careful though, getting a gf might be more expensive in the end... www.booze.com
