In the UK most Thais and myself use Eva for our bpai-bpai - mah-mah - comings and froings from LOS - Thai never gets a sniff - expensive and crap service in economy and they have never seemed to make an effort to get what shoul be a core base back. One more thing for the good General's to do list when he's finally got the beer girls demobbed.

THAI has never made a profit from its airline division, not once, ...never. The junta would be wise to look at what the Malaysian government is doing with their better airline.

I did a quick survey of regional routes today using the most popular on-line travel agencies. THAI consistently was priced ridiculously high and completely out of the market almost every time. Note: the searches I made excluded most of the low cost airlines which are not normally options with OTA.

Air Chief Marshal Lt. General Kitawongsawanakulprasertporn, head of marketing at Thai probably still insists people don't really use on-line travel agencies. It's all hype.

Regional 66.8% (-13.9%)

Half empty planes make for a better in-flight experience, and the cabin crew don't have to work too hard.

I'm a simple guy who fly to Melb 2-3 times a year, Thai want s B. 39,000 and Jetstar/AirAsia

B 24,000 or less depend on the time of the year, now, that includes food, 15kg going and 30kg

luggage coming back with flexi travel option on Jetstar DIRECT flight using brand new Dream liner

Boing 787, you do the math.....

Werent we just talking on another thread about Thais raising prices when their business is bad or no customers? Well here is a prime government example of that. Ever see Thai airlines with specials such as Air Asia or any other asia company? Let me answer that for you. No.

No, no, no this is not correct. THAI does have special promotions. They have a huge marketing and sales department devoted to that task. Incentives and promotions are often given to selected well connected travel agencies. Unfortunately the discounts and savings rarely are seen in the marketplace.

Rather than paying traditional travel agents a sales fee - Thai should become more current and offer more competitive prices online. I never get competitive Thai Airline fares when traveling within Thailand, within SE Asia or long haul. Even Bangkok Airways sometimes offers fares competitve with low cost carriers when they are in a market that other airlines fly.

Your link is from 2013.

Latest report from AirAsia website, bolding by me:

"TAA posted revenue of THB5.46 billion in 2Q14, up 2% from the same period last year. This

quarter saw an operating loss THB464.91 million which led to a 164% decrease in profit after
tax at THB317.61. AirAsia Group CEO Tony Fernandes commenting on regional affiliates,
“Our decline in operating profit was due to the lower revenue as average fare declined by
14% y-o-y mainly due to drop in passenger travel caused by the political situaiton,
depreciation cost of taking aircraft into our own balance sheet and spending on public
relations and marketing as the political demonstration in Bangkok continues into the second
quarter of this year. With the political demonstration, TAA still continues to record a solid
78% load factor."

Dont't worry in 2015 on LHR-BKK route average Economy prices with Thai will be within 3 to 7 % of EVA AIR.

It would be nice if the age of their stewardesses was also going to be in that range.

With THAI routes are handed out based on seniority thus older more experienced staff get first pick on the longer routes which offer layovers in popular destinations with higher per diems. Sadly the younger fresher and less experienced staff are flying the Mae Hong Song and Mae Sot routes with Nok Air.
