I was due to head off to Penang tomorrow to get a Non-O but due to a sudden change of circumstances I can't .

It's my last day tomorrow, there's a nice little border called Wang Prachan in Satun.

If I head there tomorrow will I be okay to do 1 out/in and get 30 days okay without the need for an air ticket? I have financial proof if they ask for it.

In my passport they'll see my 60 day extension, ending tomorrow, before that I had a triple entry tourist visa and before that a multiple Non O based on family.

Thanks in advance

Some members have reported problems at border crossings in the south recently, not only with visa-exempt out-in entries but also with tourist and nonimmigrant visas.

According to the rules you can get a visa exempt entry since you have not had one previously.

***IMPORTANT UPDATE***

Well, I went to the Wang Prachan border in Satun this morning. I thought it best to ask the immigration officer how many (if any) days could I get today for my current circumstances first, rather than just stamping out, and I'm so pleased I did.

I told him about my expiring 60 day extension and that I had a triple entry TV before that and a Non-O visa before that and I didn't have any 30 day visa exempts i.e out / ins in my passport. I thought this would sway his judgment and reassure him that I wasn't a typical visa runner but in a nice and friendly manner, he asked me if I had any type of new visa from a Thai Consulate? I said no and then he asked for my passport, took a few minutes looking at it and said, I'm sorry but we have new rules now and we cannot let anyone back in Thailand without a proper visa from the consulate.

I said can you at least give me 15 or even 7 days and he said politely, I'm sorry but we can't do that, you'll have to go back to the immigration in Satun and ask them for a 7 day extension.

Just a heads up and a warning to anyone coming into Thailand from the South esp at Wang Prachan border in Satun.

Make sure you have a visa from a Thai Consulate or you're not getting in! smile.png

There are no such rules. Visa exempt entries are still possible.

I don't know where some of these crossing are getting their rules from unless the are making them up.

It seems a very quiet border UbonJoe, maybe it's going to take some time for the "new rules" as they put it, to be updated again. I think you're right though some seem to lack knowledge of the current rules and just act how they see fit.
