Filling out my visa application form - questions

Featured Replies

Hi All :)

Sending my visa application form tomorrow. Questions I have:

Nationality and Nationality at Birth - My passport says Nationality = British Citizen, can I just put British for both? Or United Kingdom?

And in the passport document section Authority of my passport says IPS I just put that right?

And this section "For departure travelling: By ..........To (country beyond Thailand): "

Do I just put airplane?

As I'm applying for a triple entry I will send them some print outs of flights booked up to 60 days per entry, just to show I understand the regulations, so does that mean I should fill in the TO: but also?

Many thanks

Dean

I always use the flight number, and you have booked already, so no problem.

As far as booking advance for your 3 entries/departures, Immigration is the one concerned about that, and may or many not ask for proof. The consulate/embassy to which your applying will probably not ask. Up to you if you give them a copy of your itinerary...it will not make a difference because they know people do not book travel until after a visa is approved. (some do..but why bother...until you actually have your visa)

Nationality.....from your question, you were born somewhere else other than what your passport says. So you got your UK citizenship later. As long as you are bringing only one passport (UK)...they will not see that. But I do not understand why anyone would need to hide information like that. I would put my correct place of birth and then put my current nationality. Your passport is good enough evidence. Your place of birth is already in your passport?

Seems the Thai Consulate/Embassy may be more strict in UK that elsewhere, from other posts I have read. I would be honest.

Interesting. I was born in, what was then Salisbury, Rhodesia (to British parents) but moved back to the UK when I was 6 months old. Presumably my "nationality at birth" was still British, even though I didn't get a British passport/citizenship until I was 8 years old?

Acquiring nationality and obtaining a passport are two different things. You did not become a British national when you got your passport at the age of eight years; you were given that passport because you had British nationality, probably acquired at birth.

None I guess. I just put British on the form as that's what it says on my passport - official and all i guess. Usually I would put UK for anything else. I got 3 entries. Each entry is 60 days, so 180 days, plus I may do extensions on each entry for 30 days per entry so a possible 270 days in total.

UK isn't a nationality.

British is the citizenship that people have.

UK is short for "the United Kingdom of Great Britan and Northen Ireland" which is the country of country's that most British citizens come from. This is true for the moment, though it might become "The Disunited Kingdom" :) soon

Great Britan is an island that consists of three country's England, Scotland, and Wales
