eldragon
I would suspect that hotels and resorts are lowering their prices to fill vacancies, while the guest houses are holding fast, if not raising their prices to cover losses (if you don't understand the logic of the latter then welcome to Thailand). This one blows my mind. And I see it all the time here. "My business is down so I have to charge you more." Can't wait for the bars to start closing at midnight (yeah, right...) so the taxi drivers start gouging us to recoop their late night loses. kokesaat
Although I live in Thailand, hundreds of kilometers from the sea, we see the same thing in Udon.......hotels, guest houses, resorts up the wahzoo. Combine that with the google search "junta governments".......if I were young, searching for a desirable place to waste away a few weeks, I might be disinclined to do it in a country with a junta. The list of 'junta governments' is getting smaller.....http://edition.cnn.com/2014/09/17/world/asia/fiji-elections-explainer/index.html?hpt=hp_c4
