Sorry guys, I have been out of touch for a while, up in the countryside, living with my wife and kid.

Finally got some steady internet, and reading through some of your posts, I got really worried.

I have been living in Thailand for a decade, and first now I am on an overstay of 2 years. That is, I had three months of overstay about 7 years ago.

The time has just run away from me, and the renewals of visas more and more difficult (under 50, and not registered married). Options are few.

The shortcut was taken, but always thought I could fix this later, without being doomed to be blacklisted.

Is it still time to clear my overstay? And if so, anyone know how long the window of opportunity is open?

It will take me a little while to gather the funds, but I will get there.

Ubonjoe and Mario seems like the guys to ask, but any good answer will do.

Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

I cleared an overstay that was very long 11 years last month via Suvarnabhumi and when I asked when the blacklisting would start was only told "in the future". As Paz said as of this moment it hasn't been instigated but the clock is ticking. If you can get your funds together best to do ASAP. I was able to get an extension on a visa exempt waiver so they are being incredibly understanding at the moment for those trying to get themselves sorted out. I wish you the best of luck, the sense of relief once you have sorted it out is truly great.

Thank you guys, for the info.

Relieved to hear that, but as I understand, the time is crucial, and it may happen very soon, so I will do my best leaving as soon as possible.

Thanks again for not drilling me about it also wai.gif

Thanks gilo, that is extremely good to hear. And what a relief you must have had. Hope I will be as lucky as you. After all, I am sure we both want to stay legally here, but overstay can happen to the best of us, for numerous of reasons.

I just reach 50 years of age in a month, so this time I can apply for stay based on retirement. Probably I will try to get back in by the normal 30 days, or a tourist visa. Then go for the extension based on retirement.

Good luck to you also wai.gif

Sounds like some good feedback and support for the OP Great post and great comments! I've been reading through TV news and forums this morning. It can get tedious reading through the flames and lectures :-). This one was just nice to read. :-)

The new laws on overstay can not become law until the new cabinet gives it approval. The new cabinet just became official yesterday so for the op and others there are no new laws and you can still clear your name and become legal. Best of luck.

You should come back on a non immigrant visa. Or at least a visa if you like to do the extension of stay based on retirement.

You wrote wife and kid but marriage not registered.

You can get single entry non-o visas with just your name on your child's birth certificate. You can also get 60 day extensions to visit your child at immigration for any type of entry.

If you were to legitimize your parenthood you could get multiple entry non-o visa and a one year extension for being the parent of a Thai.

I suggest when you leave the country to clear your overstay you apply for a single entry non-o that would give you 90 days that you could then extended for 60 days.

You should clear your overstay as soon as possible. Now that there is a cabinet the new overstay rules could be approved at any time.

How will you get a retirement visa if you have to scrape to get 15.000?

Wow actually helpful comments without abuse ....kudos to u guys put a smile my face this morning ...good luck OP.

The sooner they bring in blacklisting the sooner people abusing the system will stop, there really is no excuse for it at all.

Sorry Frits, didn`t see your post before now.

How I will get a visa based on retirement? What a strange question. But since you ask, I come from a country in Europe, and own a land and a house there. Which doesn`t help me here right now, but finally back home it will.

All farangs staying in Thailand hopefully don`t bring all their belongings and funds with them here. Smart to have something in hand back home, if something goes wrong.

Btw, a ticket back home and an additional 20k bath overstay fine, brings the amount pretty much higher than 15k. Try closer to 50k.
