I believe they also found drugs on them. There could be something in this or maybe they were just using the cave as a refuge to get high. Either way it looks like they will be DNA tested.

this is not the first time a crime is committed in those paradise islands often non Thai are accused but afterwards found guilty for the right reasons as the criminals were not Thai however in this case watching the CCTV picture of the young man on the run, he looks very much Asian and can be Thai.

There is a certain initial chaos the FBI will clear it not to worry, enough DNA samples collected to confuse the crime issues.

Horrific criminal act for no reason other than a blond women prey to catch.

Don't we ourselves Men, Farangs, stop our girlfriends to wear all their gold, stones openly especially when travelling together in remote parts of Thailand ( islands especially included ) knowingly criminals kill the man first before robbing, raping the woman.....that applies well in this crime in Koh Tao.

So sad I am speechless and I can not recommend any ones to venture in love in south East Asia not only Thai Islands, without ultra extra care including to respect any Statues/ Monuments by doing like the locals are not doing......bikinis wearing are for the beach certainly not for shopping neither for drinking out at night regardless of being a single or a couple.

Have you ever seen South East Asian ( not only Thai ) wearing bikinis similarly to many stupidly doing foreign women ?

Unlikely. The cops on the island are feared and reviled by all except their criminal peers and island elite that openly control them. It would be dangerous for any normal islander to report any violent crime for fear of reprisals and that their name would be passed on to the offenders.

I feel if all local police,govt were removed from the island immediately and never allowed to return, info closing this crime would become available within hours.

That local police might have been involved, that,s maybe why they put that "evidence" in the suspect luggage so test this group policeman on dna before remove them would not be a bad idea.

If the Thai authorities were prepared to spend money on the establishment of a well equipped professional forensic investigation team, instead of wasting it on useless bomb detectors, blimps and rice schemes. then debacles such as the present investigation may well be avoided.

Local uniformed police, no matter how high their rank are not qualified to run an investigation such as this. If these murders had happened in the UK or Australia would the local uniformed police chief be running the show? No way, a specialised, highly trained CID/Forensic team would be flown in at once. What do we get here in Thailand, local coppers bumbling around ruining the scene, screwing up the collection of evidence, whilst uninformed clowns state that the assailant could not possibly be Thai, and that the victims brought it upon themselves because of their behaviour.

The mind boggles. I have a feeling that only luck will solve this case now.

Proper policing also requires properly compensated, dedicated, trained, morally centred, intelligent people willing and able to investigate all avenues of inquest and all potential suspects regardless of status or affiliation. Herein lies the problem.

I just looked up a Twitter account of a respected journalist. He says that Sean McAnna is safe and the his embassy and others are helping him. So lets hope this ends up to be the truth .

Just when you think the BIB couldn't have handled this any worse you read this gem:

Why on earth did the police pack the victim's bag? Did they think it was blood when they packed them? If this was a movie script it would be rejected as being too preposterous to believe.

I sincerely hope the poor families of the victims are not reading any of this. And that the PM is!

Why indeed? Where did the first group of police officers (i.e. from Koh Tao) get David's (light coloured) trousers from? They were not found at the scene of the crime.

I would advise against replying to JLCrab posts unless you are interested in film quotes or youtube videos of so called humorous songs. As he has stated on 2 occasions the death of two young people is used for his entertainment.
