same paper claims 2 Thai 1 Myanmar, what thats based on no idea, found a guy who runs a speedboat business from Koh Tao to Phanyang hiding in a cave on Samui .. no idea what thats about ... paper is sanook but its in Thai so cant link

I believe they also found drugs on them. There could be something in this or maybe they were just using the cave as a refuge to get high. Either way it looks like they will be DNA tested.

They never give up do they?

According to Sunday's UK Guardian:

"Police Colonel Kissana Phathanacharoen said: "We have discovered fresh evidence which could lead to a new suspect who may have had a relationship or one-night stand with Hannah or one of her friends or David the night before they were killed".

The smirking police , seem to be enjoying the in house joke.

I wonder if its because some rich kids families have deposited a half million in each of their bank accounts?

Or if the idea of brutally raped and murdered westerners seem an amusing thing?

In any case keeping a straight face is tough.

Posts containing links to a facebook page and calling for other to take a look at that link have been removed as per this forum rule:

6) You will not post comments that could be reasonably construed as defamation or libel.

Defamation is the issuance of a statement about another person or business which causes that person to suffer harm. It does not have to be false to be defamatory. Libel is when the defamatory statement is published either in a drawing, painting, cinematography, film, picture or letters made visible by any means, or any other recording instruments, recording picture or letters, or by broadcasting or spreading picture, or by propagation by any other means. Defamation is both a civil and criminal charge in Thailand.

As facebook is not an accredited source of information, the information posted on that facebook page could be construed as defamatory. Thailand has tough Libel laws and save members any harm the posts have been removed. Please do not continue to link to the facebook site. Let's wait until some other news source breaks the news.

Edit to add: Due to the computer crime act in Thailand, it’s not wise to post screenshots of Sean McAnna’s FB page or to name the alleged killer yourself.

this is not the first time a crime is committed in those paradise islands often non Thai are accused but afterwards found guilty for the right reasons as the criminals were not Thai however in this case watching the CCTV picture of the young man on the run, he looks very much Asian and can be Thai.

There is a certain initial chaos the FBI will clear it not to worry, enough DNA samples collected to confuse the crime issues.

Horrific criminal act for no reason other than a blond women prey to catch.

Don't we ourselves Men, Farangs, stop our girlfriends to wear all their gold, stones openly especially when travelling together in remote parts of Thailand ( islands especially included ) knowingly criminals kill the man first before robbing, raping the woman.....that applies well in this crime in Koh Tao.

So sad I am speechless and I can not recommend any ones to venture in love in south East Asia not only Thai Islands, without ultra extra care including to respect any Statues/ Monuments by doing like the locals are not doing......bikinis wearing are for the beach certainly not for shopping neither for drinking out at night regardless of being a single or a couple.

Have you ever seen South East Asian ( not only Thai ) wearing bikinis similarly to many stupidly doing foreign women ?

God bless them and courage to the family, the criminals will be caught eventually.

When in Rome do as the Romans do. When in Thailand do as the Thais do. Offer rice to the monks not your body to the moon.

I'de guess here, that if the cops don't get a tip off.....they may well be up the creek........

Hopefully, someone will come forward......

Unlikely. The cops on the island are feared and reviled by all except their criminal peers and island elite that openly control them. It would be dangerous for any normal islander to report any violent crime for fear of reprisals and that their name would be passed on to the offenders.

I feel if all local police, govt were removed from the island immediately and never allowed to return, info closing this crime would become available within hours.

That local police might have been involved, that,s maybe why they put that "evidence" in the suspect luggage so test this group policeman on dna before remove them would not be a bad idea.

"As for the pair of stained pants found in Miller's luggage, the general admitted that the substance found on the clothing was not blood and that they belonged to Miller and the pair had been put in the victim's luggage by the first group of police officers."

Very worrying statement

the thai cops are so incompetant, they cant even get that right, Right now the thai cops are a global joke!!!

If the Thai authorities were prepared to spend money on the establishment of a well equipped professional forensic investigation team, instead of wasting it on useless bomb detectors, blimps and rice schemes. then debacles such as the present investigation may well be avoided.

Local uniformed police, no matter how high their rank are not qualified to run an investigation such as this. If these murders had happened in the UK or Australia would the local uniformed police chief be running the show? No way, a specialised, highly trained CID/Forensic team would be flown in at once. What do we get here in Thailand, local coppers bumbling around ruining the scene, screwing up the collection of evidence, whilst uninformed clowns state that the assailant could not possibly be Thai, and that the victims brought it upon themselves because of their behaviour.

The mind boggles. I have a feeling that only luck will solve this case now.

Edit: Typo

Proper policing also requires properly compensated, dedicated, trained, morally centred, intelligent people willing and able to investigate all avenues of inquest and all potential suspects regardless of status or affiliation. Herein lies the problem.

Hope I am not overstepping the rules if so please delete mods.

I just looked up a Twitter account of a respected journalist. He says that Sean McAnna is safe and the his embassy and others are helping him. So lets hope this ends up to be the truth .

I met a very influential long time good Thai friend yesterday. She said senior police she knows told her that it was definitely foreigners who were responsible, and again made reference to the low morals and bad behavior generally expected of and associated with foreigners. An interesting mind set, and far from open.

UN Quote

This sums up what is becoming an obvious cover up attempt

Police talking about morals?

Interesting post here saying they doubt the killers hung around.

the B2 turned up for DNA tests. It has been said one was running because he was caught in Surat Thani.

If you committed this crime you would leave asap not turn up for work and then a few days later go for a DNA test

Just when you think the BIB couldn't have handled this any worse you read this gem:

"As for the pair of stained pants found in Miller's luggage, the general admitted that the substance found on the clothing was not blood and that they belonged to Miller and the pair had been put in the victim's luggage by the first group of police officers" (italics added).

Why on earth did the police pack the victim's bag? Did they think it was blood when they packed them? If this was a movie script it would be rejected as being too preposterous to believe.

I sincerely hope the poor families of the victims are not reading any of this. And that the PM is!

Why indeed? Where did the first group of police officers (i.e. from Koh Tao) get David's (light coloured) trousers from? They were not found at the scene of the crime.

Maybe they didn't leave ASAP because they didn't have enough money for the ferry ticket to the mainland.

Now why would anyone feel the need to flee after committing the crime of singing folk songs while strumming an acoustic guitar, on a moonlit beach, while sharing a beer and cigarette after having finished their day's work? One presumes that upon wakening the next morning their thoughts were limited to normal morning ablutions and preparing themselves for work. It would only be once they arrived at south Sairee they heard there had been another murder. Presumably after they were photographed smiling, relaxing and laughing in the queue to be DNA tested, the 2 Burmese were more surprised than anyone after being accused of the hideous crime and far reaching cover-up - even more so because their DNA did not match in initial testing.

I dunno -- trial starts next month.

I would advise against replying to JLCrab posts unless you are interested in film quotes or youtube videos of so called humorous songs. As he has stated on 2 occasions the death of two young people is used for his entertainment.
