What are the best ways to meet other expats?
I have met a few decent ones, and been disappointed with others who I thought were friends and been badly let down, though that is only the odd one or two. -

Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
Calm down, here you go. Source: Gemini NCOs in the Russian Army: A Limited Role Historically, NCOs in the Russian military have had a significantly diminished role compared to their Western counterparts. This is a stark contrast to the emphasis placed on NCO leadership in many Western armies. Key points about Russian NCOs: Limited authority and responsibility: Unlike in Western militaries, Russian NCOs typically have less autonomy in decision-making and troop management. Officers often retain a tight grip on unit control. Lack of professionalization: The NCO corps has traditionally been less professionalized, with fewer opportunities for career advancement and specialized training. Emphasis on officers: The Russian military has historically placed a greater emphasis on the officer corps, leading to a top-heavy structure. -

Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
There are indeed some pathetic courses out there these days. Unfortunately, I am a little older and had to WORK for mine very hard for ten years. In the UK, rightly or wrongly, you cannot get senior health jobs without an advanced degree. It's the way it is. -

Kamala Harris's VP Choice: Did She Make Her First Major Campaign Mistake?
Unless Trump was arrested for illicitly avoiding compulsory military service he did it legally. You protest too much about not much, so carry on without me. -

Australian Aged Pension - Income Taxes in Thailand
Regrettably I think that combining allowances & tax bands, other than the 190K aged 65/disabled allowance which looks like it can be claimed twice, is not possible. I thought this was looking too good to be true and have since added a new document to my reading list. This is from the Thai Revenue Department at. https://www.rd.go.th/fileadmin/download/english_form/030265guide91.pdf The last page of the document, page 16, gives an example of the tax filing for a married man who has a wife with no income. This would seem to suggest that only one lot of TEDA 150,000baht is tax free. And also suggests that the subsequent tax bands can not be combined either. So my brief optimism has evaporated! Agree with your approach of keeping your head down and will be doing the same. Thanks anyway for the replies to my questions. It was nice to have a ray of hope for a while! Cheers -

Girlfriend approved for US tourist visa but worried about airport immigration
My partner traveled with me last year to the US. But although we traveled together, at Immigration we separated and saw different officers. She said that her officer was very pleasant and asked her about Thailand, saying he would like to visit one day! Don’t think there’s any need for her to worry, it’s normal to feel a bit anxious and they know that, but they don’t make it difficult. -

School Van Accident in Northern Thailand Takes Young Student's Life
The closest bus price I can get to the OP photo is this. what is the cost of a school bus made by International in the USA How much does a US school bus cost? Both Type C and D buses weigh over 10,000 pounds and can carry up to 72 people. The cost of an electric Type C or D school bus ranges from $320,000 to $440,000, while their diesel counterparts come in between $90,000 to $110,000. To this must be added shipping costs, the cost of converting the vehicle from LHD to RHD, to make it safer for school children in Thailand to enter and exit, the forex rate between the USD and the THB, import taxes and VAT on the top. Just the price of the bus alone at a forex rate of 34thb/USD is 3,400,000, conversion costs are unknown but probably IRO of 680,000, shipping costs unknown, importation fees and customs duty @ 250% would bring it to over 10,000,000 plus VAT at 7% would bring each bus to around 11,000,000 thb. That does not include spares (all imported), service and a back up service. For the costs alone, how many would each school need, and who would pay for it? -
