webfact
Phuket park officers file cases against encroachers, crooked officialsDarawan NaknakhonPark chief Kitipat Tharapiban explains the case against a would-be encroacher to a Tah Chat Chai police officerPHUKET: -- Sirinart Park Chief, Kitipat Tharapiban, has filed cases with the police against officials who allegedly had a hand in granting illegal chanote papers on 88 rai of land inside the park, and against an encroacher who attempted to get chanotes on two other plots in the park, totalling 176 rai.Mr Kitipat revealed that on Thursday last week (September 18) Park officers filed legal documents with Thalang police, seeking legal action against government officials, former government officials and the registered owners of two plots, one of 80 rai and the other of eight rai. Both plots are believed to be in the park, with "flying" SorKor1 papers being used to upgrade the title to chanote in 2009. Thirteen people are involved in these two cases, Mr Kitipat said.On Friday, Mr Kitipat himself filed another report with Tah Chat Chai police against a would-be encroacher who attempted to steal two chunks of the park, again using "flying" SorKor 1 papers. After carrying out an investigation, Park officials noted that most of the land was still virgin forest, whihc meant it had never been farmed, and indicating intention to occupy the land illegally. The two parcels of land, one of 80 rai and the other of 96 rai would be worth around B3 billion if they were sold, he said.He said legal action will be taken against anyone believed to have encroached on the park, even if the land has since been sold on.Mr Kitipat said he is also taking legal action, both criminal and civil, for defamation, against people who made written complaints to police that park and and other government officials had neglected their duty. His announcement came the day after he applied for a transfer out of Sirinart, citing fears that crooked investors and people angry at having had their illegal businesses demolished wanted to have him killed.Source: http://www.thephuketnews.com/phuket-park-officers-file-cases-against-encroachers-crooked-officials-48830.php-- Phuket News 2014-09-
timewilltell
It is so sad that this man has had to resign because of threats on his life. Why is strong and rapid action and detention made of these criminals. For all the talk of corruption where is the action against these mafia types threatening good Thai officials. It doesn't show much hope. The last governor said not much he could do as the criminal element in Phuket know where his children go to school. And people say Thailand is safe with all this going on. Chicago in the 1930's was probably safer! Sent from my iPad using ThaiVisa app
