BANGKOK, Sept 22 -- Pol Gen Adul Sangsingkeo, Minister of Social Development and Human Security, sets solutions to human trafficking as the first priority of his urgent tasks and he expects to see their progress within six months.

Gen Adul laid down his priorities and policies to officials at the Ministry of Social Development and Human Security today.

His first priority is to tackle human trafficking, the use of child labour and forced labour and prostitution. The ministry must join with other agencies to remove Thailand from its spot of the the United States’ human trafficking watch list.

His other priorities are lifelong human development, preparing for the aging society, better life for people with disabilities, the underprivileged and ethnic groups, improved living conditions for slum dwellers and low-income earners, and preparation for the ASEAN Community.

Pol Gen Adul said that there must be action plans and evaluation for the priority tasks.

He also called for special work stations where directors-general will have comprehensive information to facilitate their decisions. He also envisions a national committee to speed up the implementation of his policies.

Besides, he called on the civil sector to assist in the implementation.

Pol Gen Adul advised local offices of the ministry have sufficient information about their areas as well as proactive and defensive action and development plans. He told his subordinates he wanted to see progress in implementing his policies within six months. (MCOT online news)

Yeah, well, setting a priority and accomplishing your goal are two very different things. I have a wait-and-see attitude about the whole experiment.

I look forward to Gen Adul investigating the Thai Navy for alleged human trafficking involvement, with Gen. Prayuth's blessing of course, to uncover corruption no matter where it is practiced.
