Multiple entries with visa-exempt passport

Featured Replies

Here is the situation:

(1) we have a passport that is exempted from the visa requirement (subject to the 30-day stay period)

(2) we will be initially traveling within Thailand, and later leaving and returning to Bangkok twice (to visit Bhutan & Myanmar) within the 30-day period

3) the number of days between our arrival in Thailand and our final departure back home is 32 days (although our stay in Thailand during this period is 8 days at the beginning and 7 days at the end)

The question is wheter we need a tourist visa. I've been having conflicting answers from visa offices & consulate, some of which arguing that because the "period in Thailand" is more than 30 days (even though we "depart from Thailand" twice) we may need a 3-entry visa.

My thinking is that every time we return to Thailand (from Bhutan and/or Myanmar through Bangkok's airport) the “30-day-visa-free-period” starts again (i.e. there is a “reset” of the 30-day period). If this is correct, we would NOT need a tourist visa to travel as described above.

Has anyone had a similar experience or has a more informed opinion? .

Many thanks in advance

But we do have outbound flights for both Bhutan (a week after arriving in Thailand) and Myanmar (immediately after Bhutan, going through Bangkok airport). So we have actually have not only one, but two outbound e-tickets (purchased, legit & printed) in addition to the return-home air ticket (32 days later arriving in Thailand). Shouldn't this be sufficient?

Of course it is.

You will have no problem making your trip as planned.

You are clearly tourists under immigration's guidelines for visa exempt entries.
