Question about Internship and vacation after it

Featured Replies

Hello,

first I want to say thank you for this forum and for the help. I will try to write simple to make my case more clear.

My problem is that today I have read about that visa run was forbidden by thai government.

And I am planning something similar so I am a little bit confused now.

I am Student from Germany and got an internship place at a company in Bangkok.

The internship will start on 3 November 2014 and end on 23 January 2015.

For this internship I got the NON-IMMIGRANT-ED VISA S.

I will arrive in Bangkok on 30 October 2014. So I guess my Visa is valid until 27 January 2015 (90 days).

After that internship I am planning to have a vacation in Thailand with my girlfriend.

Her flight will arrive on 23 January in Bangkok. We want to visit the islands in the south.

Our flight back to Germany will be on 5 Feburary 2015.

There was a Air Asia sale where I found cheap flights. I thought it might be a good idea to combine the travel to the south with a visa run.

So I booked a flight for us from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur on January 24. Arrival in Kuala Lumpur is 18:10.

To save time I booked a flight back to Thailand the same day. The flight goes from Kuala Lumpur to Phuket. Departure is 20:20.

I thought 2 hours might be enough to go through immigration, get the stamp of malaysia and then go back to Thailand.

We are travelling only with hand luggage.

From Phuket we want to go to Koh Phi Phi, Koh Lanta, Ao Nang and then go back to Bangkok to catch our flight.

Today I read about that visa-run by plane was forbidden in August. I think what I am doing is something like a visa run.

- Could there be some problems I didn't thought about at Kuala Lumpur Airport?

- Will I have a problem when trying to pass immigration at Phuket Airport? (because of that new visa-run rule)

- Is it a problem for my girlfriend when she get this 30 day "visa on arrival" on January 23, then leave Thailand on January 24 and try to get another "visa on arrival" on the same day?

Again thank you very much for the answers.

Greetings

Beside the fact your girlfriend will fly back and forth instead than straight to destination, that can be done. However 2 hours can be a stretch in case of any delay. She will get visa exempt entries not visa on arrival.

She prefers to travel together with me instead of alone.. flying back and forth is no problem :)

So you say that we don't have to worry about getting the visa-exempt stamps?

Doesn't matter that we are leaving and entering Thailand the same day?

Doesn't matter. also because she will not stay in Thailand at all before re-entering.

Anyway instead than an air round-trip for two, you could have got an extension for 7 days, until 3/1/15 for Bt 1,900. Then pay Bt 1,000 overstay fine when leaving at the airport. Such short overstay do not prevent one from coming back or getting a visa.

Can the NON-IMMIGRANT-ED VISA S be extended for 7 days? I didn't know about that

Any type of entry can, once only.

"Then pay Bt 1,000 overstay fine when leaving at the airport."

If you happen to get caught by the BIB on your two day overstay you could be arrested and put in the clink! You should never intentionally overstay. "Murphey's Law" is not in your favor!
