Cancer kills three 9/11 firefighters on the same day

NEW YORK: -- Three firefighters who were on duty at Ground Zero during the 9/11 attacks have died on the same day from cancer, fire officials have said.

Lieutenant Howard Bischoff, 58, and firefighters Robert Leaver, 56, and Daniel Heglund, 58, died within hours of one another on Monday.

Thousands of people who helped the 9/11 rescue efforts have been diagnosed with illness, including cancer.

But doctors say it is unclear whether sickness can be linked to the attacks.

Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro described the three men's deaths as a "painful reminder that 13 years later we continue to pay a terrible price for the department's heroic efforts".

"On that day when first responders arrived, the air was toxic and remained toxic for many months afterward," said the president of the Uniformed Fire Officers Association, James Lemonda.

Some 1,000 deaths have been linked to illnesses caused by toxic dust issuing from wreckage at Ground Zero.

I remember reading somewhere ... and I think it was on this forum ... a quote that went (something) like this ... my apologies in advance if I misquote;

"A fireman's greatest act of heroism is becoming a fireman, everything else thereafter is duty"

343 brave firefighters lost their lives on 9/11. It isn't possible to know how many more have died since then from breathing smoke and toxic chemicals. Many were in those buildings when they suddenly and totally collapsed. These guys went into those buildings after they were burning to try to rescue people.

RIP

Doctors hired to avoid paying out compensation I would imagine.

WTC 1&2 were laced with asbestos... There were several law suits over the years to force them to remove the asbestos fire retardant, but the owners kept filing appeals... They finally lost the last appeal and were being forced to begin removal just prior to the 9/11 event... It was going to cost billions to remediate the problem...

oddly enough the wtc was acquired a few months prior to 911 as was a multibillion dollar insurance policy. very strange business move considering the buildings required a billion dollar asbestos removal job. just coincidently the wtc owner and family members who were typically on the premises workdays all had prior engagements to be somewhere else on that day.

Do they get their names enscribed on the wall of rememberance as well ? Three champions.

Heck of a coincidence. 3 men doing the same job. enter a building on the same day and 13 years ago and die of the same illness hours apart.

As long as they weren't the ones looting Gap jeans.

Asbestos in that form is not a health hazard...well, until it is pulverized and becomes airborne through explosion.

We applied it for years on steampipes and as you know, it has long been used as a heat-retardant on structural steel I-beams. I remember when it used to come in bags and placed into large vats and it being hand-mixed by a guy stirring over the top of the vat and then it being painted on very thick.

Its disgusting that three firefighters can all die within hours of each other of the same illness and anyone can still be in denial of the source of exposure. Rotten insurance companies .

What is strange about having an insurance policy for the value of the building? In fact, a loan would not be made without one. Right?

This makes for a great math puzzle -- what is the likelihood that three firefighters, who all fought the same fire, would die on the same day 13 years later?

When I was taking a statistics class the teacher threw this one at us: JFK was assassinated in Nov. 1963. By the end of 1965 twenty-four of the witnesses were dead, what is the likelihood of this happening? Well, it at least served to keep us awake in an otherwise boring class.

Laced isn't even close. WTC wa made of the stuff. Spray on fire proofing for one.

apparently it went above and beyond the required amount and must have had a clause to not exclude an "act of war".

A search on your teacher's question brings up 18 in 3 years. The odds? 1 in 100,000 TRILLION.

clearly you are a conspiracy theorist and your post should be deleted.

The cnspiracy theorists must love this angle.

All of these conspiracy theories, Where are the links to reputable sites? I've never heard any of these conspiracy theories before.

Links to reputable news sources or it didn't happen.

I don't believe that news is an accurate reflection of what "did happen" or "didn't happen" in the world. The news is all controlled and owned by the same people. The news shows you what they want you to see.

Anyways, to answer your question about "news proving it happened" here is your link to an interesting Cspan news report:
