Popular Post Fred Flinstone Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 Thats charming and so very reassuring to know we will be given special treatment including safety measures. However, lets not forget the brutality of the murders and poor police work around the crime and investigation. This may be a greater consideration than promises it won't reoccur again soon 6
Popular Post shirtless Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 Thailand needs to either be tourist friendly or expect fewer tourist, there are plenty of alternatives. 9

StealthEnergiser Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 When will thailand authorities move jet ski scammers from the beaches . The General has quite well but nothing has been done about the people who have scammed and extorted thousands of tourists over the years. Why are they being allowed to continue ? 2

Maybe a more powerful general? Who takes the brown envelope 1

Popular Post Songhua Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 'Let's snatch that Chinese woman's bag' 'NO! The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said we mustn't'. 9
Popular Post Jeremy50 Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 Most Thais are taught by their parents to dislike and mistrust foreigners from an early age. How does one go from this mentality to one of genuine welcoming warmth without the focus just being on the wallet? If tourists could understand what Thais are saying about them behind their backs, no-one would ever come here. 22
Popular Post JOC Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 So now the Thais are being "ordered" to turn on their fake smiles, to ensure the flow of tourist$ !! 6

The General has quite well but nothing has been done about the people who have scammed and extorted thousands of tourists over the years. Why are they being allowed to continue ? Why do idiot tourists still insist on hiring them despite their notoriety? Why are they allowed to continue operating? Thai law deems them illegal

Popular Post lostinisaan Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 But only those who don't wear tiny bikinis. I mean those who are not beautiful and doing so can do it. Girls and women working in the Ping Pong ball industry in Pattaya, Phuket, Bangkok and elsewhere are advised to invite them to their Isaan villages and marry them. Sin Sod, even when not Sod should be not less than one million baht. No reason to tell these foreigners that they're already married and have 10 children. I might be wrong, but foreigners usually build houses for them and host them. So who is hosting whom? Welcome to the jungle............ 3
heybruce Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Convincing Thais to be nice to tourists is the easy part. Convincing tourists to holiday in a country under military rule and martial law is the challenge.
jaltsc Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 "Thailand needs to either be tourist friendly..." I would tend to guess that "Welcome for 14 days and then bugger off" doesn't qualify as being tourist friendly.
Popular Post JingerBen Posted September 28, 2014 Popular Post Posted September 28, 2014 "Thailand needs to either be tourist friendly..." I would tend to guess that "Welcome for 14 days and then bugger off" doesn't qualify as being tourist friendly. That is being tourist friendly. Problems arise when the tourists don't go home when their holidays are over. So many have settled down here and become dissatisfied misfits complaining about everything. 4
Somtamnication Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 They always welcome.............................. our money. Then tell us to fleck off!
rubl Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Thats charming and so very reassuring to know we will be given special treatment including safety measures. However, lets not forget the brutality of the murders and poor police work around the crime and investigation. This may be a greater consideration than promises it won't reoccur again soon The last Date/Rape on the islands was two years ago, soon forgotten it seems. Except by those involved who may suffer from the ordeal for the rest of their life. It would indeed seem that PM Prayut needs to make reform of the police force one of his priorities. Mind you there's so much to do and so little time. 1
rubl Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 BS.................. they cant assure anything. They can, they just did. Same like any of the previous governments.
rubl Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Convincing Thais to be nice to tourists is the easy part. Convincing tourists to holiday in a country under military rule and martial law is the challenge. Convincing tourists to come to a country where the military cleaned up the streets from pro-anti government protesters, cowards attacking in the night seems easier than convincing some posters here that stating their opinion as fact isn't really helpful. By the time the rainy season is finally finished tourists will come back. That is assuming there are no blocking problems to distract them. Like 'ebola', 'ISIS', Ukrany, global meltdown, aliens invading. 2
stickyrice2000 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 No one can assure the safety. The tourists have to look after themselves and not step on anyone's toes.

Expattaff1308 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 To read most of the comments on here you would think Thailand is the most unsafe least tolerant place on the planet. Murders, muggings, assaults, rape and anything else you can think of happens somewhere in every country in the world on virtually a daily basis.
Emster23 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 He should have added "And if you offer to give ride back to hotel, do not stop off to tie up and repeatedly rape women, no matter how pretty they are. It hurts Thailand's image."
8OA8 Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 Why does almost everyone expect the RT Police to be working to the same levels as some of the most developed nations in the world? Its like expecting two nations armies to be equally capable.
Utley Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 The young Thai lasses could help by doffing their knickers; just saying.
Thai at Heart Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 At least the word "lure" hasn't appeared in any TAT press releases for a while. 1
