DumbFarang Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 I am about two and a half weeks into a Tourist Visa in my US passport. I am thinking about taking a short trip to Japan in a week and then returning to Thailand. Will I need to get a whole new visa to get back into Thailand, or can I re-enter on my current Tourist Visa? Thanks so much, DF
cacruden Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Is it single entry or multi entry. If you have a single entry visa then it ends when you leave.
IMA_FARANG Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Depends on your visa. Do you have a visa exempt 30 day entry. That goes away if you leave the country. A Single entry tourist visa ..... the name Single entry tourist visa ought to give you an clue. Single entry, and a single exit go together. Double entry visa and triple entry visa ...... that should be obvious also. So it depends on the exact visa you have. What do you have?
PoorSucker Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 You will need to get a re-entry permit at immigrations before you leave to keep your current permission to stay alive. Costs 1000 baht.
AlanAunuum Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 get a re entry permit it costs about 1200 baht at Swampy
DumbFarang Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 Great! Can I get a re-entry permit at Don Muang?
ubonjoe Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Great! Can I get a re-entry permit at Don Muang? Yes you can.
DumbFarang Posted September 30, 2014 Author Posted September 30, 2014 More great! What is the procedure for this? Do I need to do this before the day of my flight or can I do it on my way out? Do I need to go to a specific desk at the airport to apply for the permit or can I do it at the same place where they typically stamp my passport? Assuming all of my paperwork is correct, am I at risk of being denied the permit for any other reason? I really appreciate all the help with this folks. DF
ubonjoe Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 You can do it before the day you leave at an immigration office. At the airport you do it on departure from the country. The office for re-entry permits at DM is after departure immgration at the same office where they do overstays. Your application will not be denied. 2
sometimewoodworker Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 Just one point you would have to get a rentry permit or come back in with a visa exempt entry because you can not get any kind of Thai visa in Japan. Thai visas in Japan are only issued to residents of japan so you don't qualify.
