I am about two and a half weeks into a Tourist Visa in my US passport. I am thinking about taking a short trip to Japan in a week and then returning to Thailand. Will I need to get a whole new visa to get back into Thailand, or can I re-enter on my current Tourist Visa?

Thanks so much,

whistling.gif Depends on your visa.

Do you have a visa exempt 30 day entry. That goes away if you leave the country.

A Single entry tourist visa ..... the name Single entry tourist visa ought to give you an clue. Single entry, and a single exit go together.

Double entry visa and triple entry visa ...... that should be obvious also.

So it depends on the exact visa you have.

What do you have?

More great!

What is the procedure for this? Do I need to do this before the day of my flight or can I do it on my way out? Do I need to go to a specific desk at the airport to apply for the permit or can I do it at the same place where they typically stamp my passport? Assuming all of my paperwork is correct, am I at risk of being denied the permit for any other reason?

I really appreciate all the help with this folks.

You can do it before the day you leave at an immigration office.

At the airport you do it on departure from the country. The office for re-entry permits at DM is after departure immgration at the same office where they do overstays.

Your application will not be denied.

Just one point you would have to get a rentry permit or come back in with a visa exempt entry because you can not get any kind of Thai visa in Japan.

Thai visas in Japan are only issued to residents of japan so you don't qualify.
